A couple from Collin County, Texas, filed a police report in January with the Melissa Police Department after they claimed they hired Mason in March 2025 to frame a piece of sports memorabilia, paying the 10-year NBA vet $9,822.86 to do so. The memorabilia and authentication documents were valued at roughly $40,000. Mason allegedly sent the couple proof he completed the job in April of that year and was going to deliver the finished product, but then cut off communication with them.
According to the Melissa Police Department in Collin County, Texas, a couple filed a police report with MPD in January, claiming they commissioned Desmond Mason in March 2025 to frame a piece of sports memorabilia. MPD says Mason was paid a total of $9,822.86. Investigators say Mason sent the couple a photograph of the completed sports memorabilia framing in April 2025 and promised to deliver the final product, but then ceased communication with the couple for several months. The sports memorabilia and associated authentication documents were valued at around $40,000. In January 2026, the couple claimed Mason began reaching out with excuses for the delay, but in February, a warrant was issued for Mason’s arrest.

Basketball legend and TV personality Shaquille O’Neal recently bought a home in Collin County, local brokerage Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate said Tuesday. Zac Gideo, a real estate agent for Rogers Healy, worked with O’Neal last May to buy a home on a 0.228-acre lot, according to the firm.
