Bennett Durando: David Adelman under the weather today, so Dave Joerger filled in at practice and on media duty. He’s got jokes. On working with Nuggets’ offense: “It’s a problem for me. … It was historically good (last year). Where do you go from there? You know who to blame: It’s this guy.”

Joerger is meant to be the seasoned veteran in the room. Nuggets upper management implored Adelman to add an assistant with head coaching experience to his staff this summer, league sources have told The Post, and Joerger is the result — a widely respected in-game tactician who went 147-99 in Memphis. But Joerger is a basketball romantic as well. He’s arriving with a respect for the history Adelman has with Denver’s core players, not to mention the “corporate knowledge” he has from years of molding the Nuggets’ system. Joerger can remember times when a newcomer on the Grizzlies’ coaching staff would suggest an idea, to which the answer would be: “Well, we tried that six years ago. Here are all the reasons we don’t do that anymore.” He’s comfortable with the reality that he’ll be that guy in Denver sometimes.

Denver is seen as an increasingly likely landing spot for former Grizzlies and Kings coach Dave Joerger. The Stein Line first reported in late June that Joerger had interviewed with the Nuggets in their search for a more experienced top assistant to head coach David Adelman.

Marc Stein: "I confirmed tonight that Dave Joerger has interviewed for the (Nuggets assistant) post, but here's the thing, Dave Joerger is also being pursued very heavily by Paris Basketball, which is the team that is run by former Timberwolves front office lead decision maker David Kahn."

Paris Basketball is exploring a high-profile coaching addition as the club prepares for the next chapter of its project. Paris is in talks with former NBA head coach Dave Joerger, sources tell ESPN's Olgun Uluc and BasketNews. The 52-year-old Minnesota native has been exploring opportunities outside the NBA and is widely expected around the market to emerge as Paris' next bench leader.

Paris is currently coached by 28-year-old Julius Thomas, who took over the team mid-season. However, BasketNews sources indicate that Thomas is expected to leave the organization this summer and is exploring opportunities to join an NBA coaching staff. Former Minnesota Timberwolves executive David Kahn oversees basketball operations in Paris, while the organization has established a growing reputation as a pathway between European basketball and the NBA.

Melbourne United are the last team in the League looking for a head coach, and Hools is Hearing that a very prominent and well-respected NBA name is at the top of the list. Current Milwaukee Bucks assistant Dave Joerger has been interviewed by the club recently about potentially taking over after Dean Vickerman’s departure. The 52-year-old has previously been Head Coach of the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings, before being added to the Bucks staff two years ago.

Peter Hooley: Former Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings head coach, Dave Joerger, has been interviewed by Melbourne United about their vacant head coaching position Joerger has a strong relationship with Joe Ingles and is currently assistant at the Milwaukee Bucks.
Olgun Uluc: Good juice from Hools. Dave Joerger has interviewed for the vacant Melbourne United head coach position. Joerger was an NBA head coach for 6 seasons (MEM, SAC). Coby Karl also interviewed for the position, sources told ESPN, while Jacob Chance has conducted multiple interviews.

Boucek is comfortable having those conversations now, but it wasn't always that way. She hid her pregnancy while she was on the Sacramento Kings' staff in 2017-18, telling then-Kings coach Dave Joerger only after they played a tennis match in which she worried that her heart rate was getting above the level that was safe for a pregnant woman of advanced maternal age. Joerger was supportive of the pregnancy, Boucek said, but agreed to her request to keep it a secret from the rest of the staff and team. "I didn't want anybody to know because I didn't want the coaches to treat me different, you know, or the players to not want to hurt me, or them to not want me to travel," she said. "I thought I might have to make a choice. As women, a lot of times we do.

Joerger was one of the first people who asked Boucek why she couldn't do both. "I hired Jenny because I really respected her point of view and her knowledge," Joerger said. "She just has a great outlook and attitude. The players gravitate to her. You can tell how much they respect her."
