Jason Beede: When I asked new #Magic guard Tyus Jones about Orlando coach Jamahl Mosley, he said the two have already discussed spacing and different actions: “… He’s studying the game, he’s trying to continue to improve himself as a coach, but he wants the team to improve as well.” More: pic.x.com/LqD6iIF3kC

Marc Stein: UPDATE: League sources tell @TheSteinLine that Orlando is indeed adding Bucks assistant Joe Prunty as well as God Shammgod to Jamahl Mosley’s coaching staff … on top of on-court additions Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones and the draft selections of Jase Richardson and Noah Penda.
Sean Sweeney, Kidd’s top assistant in Dallas, left to be the San Antonio Spurs’ associate head coach. Jared Dudley is a candidate to be an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers, according to league sources. In March, Alex Jensen accepted a job to be the men’s basketball coach at Utah. It’s also possible Dallas loses God Shammgod, who is a candidate to join Jamahl Mosley’s staff with the Orlando Magic.
“One, the young man that he is,” Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said about what stands out to him about Jase Richardson. “His toughness. His basketball IQ. He’s a guy that can knock down shots, not afraid of moments … His family history of who and what he comes from is such an important piece. Getting down here, getting him on the court, getting him around our guys, just getting ready to get to work, that’s going to be a big key piece for us for him,” Mosley added.

Jason Beede: I asked new #Magic guard Desmond Bane about coach Jamahl Mosley: “Cool cat. That’s the best way to put it … He’s going to empower us to be ourselves out there … And that just gave me the ultimate confidence that this is going to be a great fit and great spot for me.” More: pic.x.com/dUFssAh0ak
Jason Beede: We spoke about a lot with Jeff Weltman including Desmond Bane, what’s next for the #Magic and the draft. Quick detail to share: Weltman said he and Jamahl Mosley FaceTimed with Bane on Sunday and Bane is “really excited.” Bane was on vacation in Florida when the trade happened.
He has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars for research and helped raise even more. On April 12, Karl was honored by St. Jude Children’s Hospital at a 240-person gala held at the Denver Art Museum. He was presented with the 2025 Inspire Award for his fundraising efforts, and the celebration included a video presentation with recorded messages from former players Andre Miller and McMillan and former assistant and current Orlando coach Jamahl Mosley.
Michael Scotto: Orlando Magic executive Jeff Weltman and coach Jamahl Mosley emphasized a win-now mentality shift at exit interviews. Weltman: “I think we’re in a place now where the focus will shift to more of a win-now lens.” Mosley: “We’re not chasing mediocre. There’s something bigger.”

Bobby Manning: Mosley: "(Jrue Holiday) blows up all the things you want to do offensively ... Payton Pritchard has stepped into that role." Said he's been impressed by Pritchard's defense.
Bobby Manning: Mosley said #Magic don't want to get away from their play style even down 1-3: "You have to stick to who you are ... what we've established, who we are, how we defend ... you have to do that because you're establishing something bigger than this moment."
Josh Robbins: Coach Jamahl Mosley, answering a question a few minutes ago about the Magic playing a road elimination game tonight: "The small margins within this game are going to be huge. We know the energy that they're going to bring. We know what the crowd is going to bring. But can we keep our attention focused on us and how we have to approach this tonight?"
After Sunday’s game, Jamahl Mosley was asked about the Celtics’ ability to get to the free-throw line in his postgame press conference. As you may expect, he didn’t love the disparity between the two teams getting to the free throw line, questioning whether the officials took the complaints from the Celtics ahead of the game into account. “How many free throws do you think came down on the back stretch when we didn’t have to foul? 26 total, maybe? That’s too many. We fouled a three-point shooter. But we were attacking the basket the exact same way. Now, we have got to knock them down when we get there. That’s a big portion of it. We had to understand the whistle was gonna head in their direction after what has been said. So we just have to continue to be smart there. Hold our ground. Keep position earlier until we show our hand.”
