Batum has survived this long not on talent alone, but on a willingness to evolve that many players never develop. As the league changed around him, he adapted with it quietly, consistently, and without much of an ego. The clearest example is his evolution from an all-around player who could create for others to a strictly three-point sniper role. He has specialized so much in that role that 95.8 percent of his shot attempts came from beyond the arc in 2025-26, which is the highest number in NBA history for a player with at least 100 field goal attempts. Caleb Houstan is now second with 93.7 percent in 2023-24. Unsurprisingly, most of the top marks are quite recent.

Brad Rowland: PSA: The deadline for NBA teams to sign Two-Way contracts is Wednesday. I've heard the Hawks have been looking around to potentially fill their open Two-Way slot that was created when they converted Caleb Houstan. They don't HAVE to, but no real reason not to.

Anthony Chiang: The only Hawks players out for tonight vs. Heat are RayJ Dennis (G League), Caleb Houstan (G League) and Jonathan Kuminga (left knee bone bruise). Hawks will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back after defeating the 76ers in Philadelphia last night.

Michael Scotto: The Atlanta Hawks plan to waive Nikola Djurisic to create a roster spot to convert Caleb Houstan to a standard NBA contract, league sources told @hoopshype . Djurisic was the 43rd overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. Houstan has shot 50% from 3-point range in 10 games for Atlanta.

Shams Charania: The Atlanta Hawks are converting shooting wing Caleb Houstan to a contract for the remainder of the season, sources tell ESPN. Houstan, 23, is in his fourth NBA season and shot 40% from 3 over the last two years in Orlando and 40% in the G League this season.
Brad Rowland: Kristaps Porzingis (return to competition reconditioning) is out tonight in Toronto. Trae Young (right quad contusion) remains out. Luke Kennard (back soreness) is out. The Hawks also transferred Caleb Houstan and Malik Williams to the big league club.

Lauren L. Williams: Caleb Houstan will actually be unavailable tonight for the Hawks @ Wizards. The Hawks hit a snag in transferring Houstan from the Skyhawks to the main club. Houstan has been trying to get from Maine to DC but had travel issues and won’t make it in time for the game.
