“I do want to say one thing,” Kerr began. “I was sitting here seven years ago after the Parkland shooting. We were in Portland that day, and I remember turning on the news and seeing the news. With what happened last night at Brown, it’s just a reminder to me that these shootings continue to happen, and there is something we can do about them. The loss that all of the people involved (Saturday) night, the loss that they’re feeling, is exactly the same loss as all the Parkland families, and every other mass shooting.”

O'Neal lives in Florida, so the shooting in Parkland that killed 17 people hit home even more. "You know it was a very, very sad incident," he said. "Close to my heart. I actually live in Fort Lauderdale, I actually knew the sheriff, called him and told him he did a wonderful job."

Dwyane Wade: This is Joaquin Oliver. He was one of the 17 young lives that were lost tragically at Douglas HighSchool in Parkland. Joaquin was one of many that i heard was excited about my return to Miami and yesterday was buried in my jersey. This is why we will not just SHUT up and dribble!

In Friday’s road game against the Pelicans, the Heat will debut their uniform patch to honor the victims of last week’s tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland. The black patch, which will be worn by the Heat for the remainder of the season, reads “MSD” and will be on the shoulder area of the jersey. The Heat coaching staff and broadcast team will also wear pins with “Stoneman Douglas” and the school’s Eagle logo on them during Friday’s game against the Pelicans. In addition, the Heat will hold a moment of silence before Saturday’s home game against the Grizzlies to honor the victims.
