Brendan Vogt: Tim Hardaway Jr. on the Sixth Man of the Year award: If I was sitting here saying I wasn’t thinking about that - I’d be lying. I do think about that. When I came here, it was one of my goals. But also it comes with team success.

Coty M. Davis: “Guys should not have to feel they have to play hurt or injured.” With the possibility of Cade Cunningham missing out on regular season awards, JB Bickerstaff shares his thoughts on the league’s 65-game rule. #Pistons

Draymond Green agaisnt 65-game rule: Draymond Green says Cade Cunningham is not going to make All-NBA team because of this dumba** 65-game rule: “It just doesn’t fix the issue. Like it does not fix the issue at all. And so here’s a guy who’s done everything right, has a collapsed lung, and he’s going to miss All-NBA because this dumba** rule that does not fix the issue. It’s just ridiculous. So here we go again with these unintended consequences.”

Bobby Marks: Cunningham has 60 qualified games played and is currently short of the All-NBA criteria. The Pistons have 14 games remaining. Cunningham earned All-NBA last season and as a result, saw his rookie max extension increase from $222M to $269M.

Tim Bontemps: Update on this, per @BobbyMarks42: Because Edwards only played three minutes before leaving with a hamstring injury back on October 26, Edwards only has 57 qualifying games. So, if he misses two weeks from today, he will be ineligible for end-of-season awards.

Chris Hine: Tonight will be Anthony Edwards’ 11th game missed. He has played in 58. Needs to play in 7 more to qualify for postseason awards. Still doable with this timeframe, but might be cutting it close. The Wolves play their last 7 games of the season beginning April 2

NBA Communications: Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić and Miami Heat center-forward Bam Adebayo have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for Week 21 of the 2025-26 season (March 9-15).

NBA Communications: Other nominees… West: Devin Booker (PHX), DeMar DeRozan (SAC), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC), Kawhi Leonard (LAC), Austin Reaves (LAL) and Victor Wembanyama (SAS) East: Paolo Banchero and Desmond Bane (ORL), Jalen Brunson (NYK), Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren (DET), Brandon Ingram (TOR) and Jalen Johnson (ATL)

How do you look at the competition with him both in the playoffs and for DPOY? Gobert: “May the best win. There are still a lot of games left. So may the best win. Regardless of anything, I’m really proud of him. I’m really proud of him. I’ve been there for him as a mentor. I try to help him in any way I can. A lot of this goes beyond basketball. Basketball is the easiest part.”

What insight can you share on what that mentorship looks like? Gobert: “Victor is passionate about health, recovery, and the mental aspect of the game. He’s very young. But at the same time, he already understands how to improve things for his daily lifestyle and his daily recovery. A few days ago, he asked me what kind of filter I have in my house for water. Those are things that not a lot of 22-year-olds are asking. It shows how smart he is. But it also shows how dedicated he is to every aspect of greatness. That’s just an example.” – So it sounds like you pay attention to that stuff, too. What has that done for you? Gobert: “Oh yeah. I’m huge on all of that. I might not be as talented as he is. But I’m someone that in my whole life and my whole career, I’ve been working my ass off to try to be in this league and try to have an impact in this league. So being able to share the knowledge with the younger guys is very important.”

All he ever wanted was to win for them. He came away accomplishing so much more. “The streak is a streak,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “The awards are the awards. But the thing I’m most proud of is winning.”
Kawhi and T-Lue think you should be on the All-Defensive First Team. What do you think? Kris Dunn: “What do you think?” It doesn’t matter what I think. It seems like it, but you’re the one playing. Kris Dunn: “It doesn’t matter what I think, either. There were times that I felt like I did a well job defensively. But at the end of the day, whoever votes for the award, votes for the award. So I don’t really try to get into that. But I’m very appreciative of my teammates for Kawhi and T-Lue to advocate for me. “I don’t really try to get into that stuff and the voters. I’m just appreciative of the front office, T-Lue and my teammates. They know what I bring to the table. I just try to keep doing it each and every night.”
What would the honor mean to you? Kris Dunn: “It would mean a lot to me. I take pride in defense. Each and every night, I love guarding the best players. It gets my blood going. It just does something for me. So to bring that back home to my family, especially with what we went through in my career, it would be a super honor.”
