While guard Terry Rozier remains on the Miami Heat’s roster, his release is expected in the coming weeks. Rozier likely won’t be on the Heat’s postseason roster, according to a league source.
With Rozier away from the team and not expected back this season in the wake of his Oct. 23 arrest stemming from a federal investigation into illegal gambling, the Heat is expected to waive Rozier before the end of the regular season to open a roster spot to add a player for depth in the postseason.

One of the reasons the Heat hasn’t yet released Rozier — even though he can no longer be used in a trade since the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline already passed — is because it doesn’t feel the immediate need to add a replacement player because of its current depth. Even with some injury issues along the way, Heat players who were once in the rotation earlier this season like Nikola Jovic, Simone Fontecchio, Dru Smith and Myron Gardner have recently had their playing time cut with the roster moving closer to full health.
Anthony Chiang: Heat says Tyler Herro (left quad soreness) remains questionable for tonight vs. Wizards. He's going to warm up and see how he feels. Heat already without Kel'el Ware, Nikola Jovic, Norman Powell, Terry Rozier, Andrew Wiggins and Jahmir Young tonight.
Anthony Chiang: Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jovic, Keshad Johnson, Jahmir Young and Terry Rozier remain out for the Heat tomorrow vs. Wizards. Kel’el Ware is questionable due to a right shoulder strain he suffered in yesterday’s win.

Barry Jackson: Per source, the resolution on Heat/Terry Rozier today is the final development on the matter. There will be no more compensation beyond that for Heat..... Heat, Hornets, NBA agreed to 2nd round pick going to Heat (more favorable of Golden State/Denver 2nd rounder this year). Per source, Heat lawsuit was never an option; these matters, per the CBA, are settled inside the league... Hornets never told Heat they knew that Rozier was under investigation at time of trade but there was no specific NBA rule against that.... Heat will send lottery protected first rounder to Hornets in 2027. If Heat misses playoffs next season, Miami would keep its 2027 first rounder and send 2028 first rounder to Charlotte.

Anthony Chiang: Simone Fontecchio ruled out for tomorrow’s game vs. Nets because of a left groin strain. Heat also remains without Nikola Jovic, Norman Powell, Vlad Goldin, Keshad Johnson, Trevor Keels and Terry Rozier.
