He has said that he plans to represent Toronto when he is officially enshrined as a Hall of Famer the weekend of Oct. 12. The relationship between player and fanbase, or player and organization, has healed considerably in recent years – winning a title in 2019 didn’t hurt – but the decision to retire Carter’s jersey will be a polarizing one. Even internally, it wasn’t a slam dunk.
Both teams were filled with superstars, but Drexler does not believe that the 2024 men's basketball team is at the same level as the 1992 team. He appeared on the Rich Eisen show and the Hall of Famer did not hesitate to support his former squad. “It doesn’t get any better when you talk about the original Dream Team. I think they were special first of all because they were first, and second because of the talent that’s on that team. It’s arguable that the ‘96 team was just as good, but I haven’t seen any other team in my opinion that could beat either one of those teams.”

Gobert still sees opponents snickering. He hears when a Hall of Famer -- much less a current player -- disrespects him. He just doesn't allow himself to harp on it. Not anymore. "As I'm getting older and all that, I'm just so happy with who I am," Gobert said. "I'm not perfect -- I'm growing, learning every day -- but who I am as a leader, as a man, as a basketball player is the most important thing. "Then the false narrative that has been painted about me, it's just noise, man. It's just noise."
Marc D'Amico: Al Horford says Blake Griffin is a Hall of Famer, and says “there was a long hope that maybe he was gonna be around in some way (this season)” with the Celtics. Remembering last season, Horford adds that Blake “made it enjoyable for me.”

"Just because he's a Hall of Fame player," Mavs governor Mark Cuban said. "You go with what you've got. He's a Hall of Famer, so why would you do it any other way when you get a chance to get somebody [of] his quality on the court? He's a superstar. ... Why wouldn't you take that chance?"
Fox Sports personality and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe had to be escorted from the Crypto.com Arena floor Friday night after an altercation with several Memphis Grizzlies players. The altercation happened shortly after the halftime buzzer when Sharpe yelled at Ja Morant after the final possession of the first half. As Morant was walking off the court toward the locker room, he paused and walked in the direction of Sharpe at his courtside seat. Before Morant could get any closer, teammate Steven Adams stepped in front of him and approached Sharpe. Others, including Morant's father Tee Morant, then got involved as Crypto.com security separated the crowd. "I bet you won't!" Sharpe yelled at Tee Morant as the two were pulled away from each other.
