For years, Jimmy Butler has been one of the San Diego Wave’s most visible fans. Now, he’s a part-owner. Butler has joined the club’s ownership as an investor, the Wave announced Monday morning. The six-time NBA All-Star now with the Golden State Warriors is a Poway resident and longtime soccer fan. He was on hand Saturday, when the Wave set a franchise record for goals in a 6-1 win over the Chicago Stars at Snapdragon Stadium.

Jimmy Butler’s Taylor Swift sing along in the Bulls locker room earlier this year makes a little more sense now. The Bulls guard was on hand Friday for the country music festival, Windy City Smokeout, at Grand Avenue and the Chicago River. Ex-Bear Greg Olsen – now with the Carolina Panthers —was also there, separately. On Saturday, Butler checked out the National Women’s Soccer League game between the Chicago Red Stars and Seattle Reign FC and then tweeted a photo of himself out to dinner with Reign star Sydney Leroux.
