Gabriella Kreuz: Jaylon Tyson shares a story to illustrate why he plays with such passion “I was cut my 9th grade year. My whole goal is I’ll never let nobody say that about me again” #cavs Don: “Michael Jordan also got cut from his HS team” JT: “I’m not Michael Jordan” ???? #cavs

Danny Cunningham: #Cavs beat the Lakers 129-99 in what could be LeBron's final game in Cleveland. Very impressive final three quarters for the Cavs after a shaky start. Donovan Mitchell had 25, Jaylon Tyson had 20 and the Cavs outscored LA 72-44 in the second half. Fifth straight for the Cavs.

The Cavs have received offers for swingman De’Andre Hunter — last year’s deadline prize who is in the midst of one of the worst statistical seasons of his career and keeps trying to adapt to a midseason role change. There remains strong interest in free-agent-to-be Dean Wade. Opposing teams have also been wondering if Cleveland has any appetite for breaking up the Core 4 — Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. To this point, Cavs decision-makers have made it clear they aren’t interested in a drastic shake-up. They still think highly of this group and see a pathway back to the top of the wide-open Eastern Conference. They also want to evaluate this roster closer to full strength, believing their prospective rotation — with Garland getting closer to returning from a minor toe injury, the emergence of second-year forward Jaylon Tyson and Max Strus’ eventual comeback from offseason foot surgery — stacks up with anyone in the East.

With a strong relationship off the court, the pairing works seamlessly on it. The two's short-roll connection is a weapon for Kenny Atkinson and the wine and gold, as Mitchell handles the ball while Tyson sets a high screen in the middle area. There's a multitude of options that come from the ball-screen action: Tyson rolls to the right elbow, pops to the opposite wing, or acts as a decoy for Mitchell's next move. “I think obviously we work on it in practice,” Tyson said at a practice at the beginning of this month. “Donovan was kind of putting it in my head earlier in the year, so we worked on it in training camp, and just my ability to be able to make quick reads out of it, I could pass out of it. Also, working on that little floater. I feel like that's helped me, but just seeing different reads is helping me grow in that. “Obviously, I'm still young, trying to figure that part out. But the more I see different coverages, how they guard, the more I just get more confident.”

Danny Cunningham: #Cavs beat the Hawks 117-109 to move to 4-3 on the season. Solid effort from a still undermanned Cleveland team. Far from perfect, but all wins count the same. Donovan Mitchell had 37 points, Jaylon Tyson and De'Andre Hunter both had 18.

Ethan Sands: Kenny Atkinson said on the broadcast at Summer League that Jaylon Tyson is playing like he’s desperate for rotation minutes. With Isaac Okoro gone, the reigning Coach of the Year added that the #Cavs will need guys like Tyson — and they’ve loved his improved physicality and development this summer.

Danny Cunningham: #Cavs have released their summer league roster. Notably features Jaylon Tyson, Craig Porter Jr., and Tyrese Proctor. Omar Cook will be the head coach.
