Jeanie, of course, dated Jackson for a long period of time as well and in that time was able to learn a lot from him. On a recent episode of NBA DNA with Hannah Storm, she recalled an argument with Jackson over the team practicing on a holiday and how he explained it to her as helping to build that family dynamic within the Lakers: “I saw it on the other side when I dated Phil [Jackson] for 15 years and so when I was his significant other I learned how to look at the team through the lens of a coach. And I remember getting in a fight with him because he was bringing the team in on Thanksgiving to practice. And I’m like ‘why are you doing this? Give them one day off.’ He’s like settle down, he said, ‘Jeanie, what I’m trying to show them by having them practice on Thanksgiving, I want to establish that this is their family as well. And you have to be with your family on a holiday.’ And that’s powerful. When a coach can harness that and create that family dynamic then you know you have something really special.”

Peter Vecsey: Very sad to report, original co-owner of the ‘67 Pacers, Dick Tinkham, 85, died. He’d battled MS for years. Franchise won all three of its ABA titles under his reign. Hired Mike Storen ( Hannah Storm’s dad) as first GM, who, in turn, signed first player, Roger Brown. God Bless!

Devoting time to his five children made sense. But why was he so set on working the Rio Olympics? It’s due to something his late wife, Ingrid Williams, once told him. Williams, via Hannah Storm of ESPN: "When I was in Orlando playing – this was like 17 years ago – she told me, she said, “You’re going to be in the Olympics one day,” out of the blue, just unprompted. I looked at her, and I was like, “I’m a solid player, but I don’t think they’re going to have me on the Olympic team.” And she didn’t even respond. She just looked at me."
When ESPN’s Hannah Storm asked Phil Jackson how Shaquille O’Neal’s fun-loving personality translated on the court, the ex-coach and current New York Knicks president provided this response: “Well, you know, numbers of times, he could crack a team up with humorous effects on the floor. There were times when he shocked us all in a practice situation, especially when he showed up nude with just his shoes on.” Shaq’s response? “I don’t remember,” he said with a smile.
Corey Brewer was on ESPN Face to Face with Hannah Storm on Thursday, and he spoke about the Rockets hiring of Mike D’Antoni. “He’s going to bring a lot of energy,” said Brewer of Houston’s new coach. “That’s what we need. We need some energy back here in Houston. It was a bad year this year. Expectations were high and we ended up playing really bad but I think Coach D’Antoni is going to come in and change all that.”
Brian Shaw told ESPN's Hannah Storm that he doesn't expect to interview for the New York Knicks' head-coaching vacancy. "Kurt Rambis is there," Shaw said on SportsCenter in explaining why he doesn't anticipate to be interviewed. "He's very adept at running the triangle, and if Phil Jackson wanted a coach that's going to run that system for him, he has a guy that's there that he has confidence in. So I don't see him bringing in somebody else who has the knowledge of that system when he already has somebody there."

Atlanta Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha said he will file a civil suit against the city of New York, the NYPD and the officers involved in an incident April 8 that left him with a broken leg. In an interview Monday with ESPN's Hannah Storm, Sefolosha said he still hasn't fully healed from injuries that also included severe ligament damage. Sefolosha had previously filed a notice of claim to preserve his option to file a lawsuit.
New York Liberty president Isiah Thomas continues to deny wrongdoing in a 2007 sexual harassment case stemming from his time as New York Knicks coach, telling ESPN that it "just didn't happen." In 2007, when Thomas was coaching the New York Knicks, Madison Square Garden executive Anucha Browne Sanders alleged that she was sexually harassed by Thomas. Although Thomas maintained his innocence, a jury found that Madison Square Garden, the owner of the team, improperly fired Browne Sanders for complaining about the unwanted advances. "I will own up to what I did and the mistakes that I made, but I can't own up to things that I didn't do," Thomas told ESPN's Hannah Storm in an interview that aired on SportsCenter on Sunday. "... I did not call her derogatory names. Just didn't happen."

James Harden wouldn’t shave his beard for a million dollars. $10 million? That’s another question. But the former Thunder guard does confess he would have stayed in Oklahoma City had money not been a factor. In this interview with Hannah Storm of ESPN, Harden says if the 5-year, $80-million extension he signed with the Houston Rockets in 2012 wasn’t a factor, he’s still be in Thunder blue. Storm: If money wasn’t in the equation, do you think you’d still be there? Harden: Definitely. Definitely, no question.
