Karl Towns Sr. is the proud papa of NBA champion Karl-Anthony Towns, who was a key component in the team’s playoff run — which snapped a 53-year championship drought. Papa Towns take a shot at some Father’s Day Q&A with Post columnist Steve Serby. Q: Why do you think New York City fell in love with your son Karl-Anthony? A: Because he’s humble, caring, loving. And he wanted to bring something to New York that they’ve been thirsting for 53 years. When he puts on that jersey, he knew every time he put it on he was representing his mother, the city, and he wanted to give them a chance to be where they were yesterday.

In the first Knicks Championship parade in over 53 years, James Dolan and NYC politicians got 13 minutes of podium mic time. All Knicks players combined got 2 minutes of podium mic time, including 0 minutes for KAT, OG, and Alvarado

For now, though, let's say that the Bucks do stay at No. 10. We've already written about Milwaukee's interest in the top guards on the board … everyone from Darius Acuff Jr. to Keaton Wagler to Mikel Brown Jr. after flying down to Orlando to meet with Brown. I've since been told that a Milwaukee contingent including general manager Jon Horst and new head coach Taylor Jenkins also traveled to New York recently to visit with Nate Ament during this pre-draft process. Now the Bucks are being looked at by some rival teams as the absolute floor for the Tennessee forward. Sources say Ament has drawn interest as high as the Clippers at No. 5, Brooklyn at No. 6 and ranks as a strong contender to emerge as Dallas' ultimate pick at No. 9.

Roland Beech: One under-discussed roster-building trait: PHYSICALITY VERSATILITY. By tracking direct H2H physicality matchups — drives, screens, post-ups, box-outs, rim contests, ball pressure, bumps, grabs, and more — we can see which players consistently win physical battles against different opponent types. Bridges, Anunoby, and Towns gave New York a rare three-man foundation of near matchup-proof physical wins. And all five starters were positive. That is a championship-level team-building edge.

Madison Square Garden has been hit with a proposed class action lawsuit alleging hackers accessed sensitive visitor data from up to 26 million people collected through controversial surveillance and facial-recognition systems used at the Knicks home arena. The suit against Madison Square Garden Entertainment was filed Tuesday in New York federal court, one day after cybercrime group ShinyHunters claimed to have hacked the company’s internal systems to obtain everything from biometric facial recognition data and background check information to credit scores and Social Security numbers. The suit comes three days after the Knicks defeated the Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals in San Antonio to take home the 2025-26 championship.

So far, Stirtz has worked out with the following teams: Charlotte Hornets Chicago Bulls Dallas Mavericks Memphis Grizzlies Oklahoma City Thunder Toronto Raptors He'll also workout for the Golden State Warriors prior to the draft.

Whatever the excess, there is no doubt the run has lifted spirits across all five boroughs, with pride in the city sitting at an all-time high after a generation of near-misses and periods of hopelessness. Nowhere is that mood easier to measure than on Spotify, where a wave of classic New York hip-hop anthems has surged in the days since Jalen Brunson and company got the job done — and the streaming numbers are frankly ridiculous. The biggest jump belongs to Skyzoo, whose “Blue and Orange Everything” — named for the Knicks’ colors — exploded by a barely believable 35,210%, according to KurrCo’s streaming figures posted to X. From there the list reads like a roll call of New York royalty. Fat Joe, Ja Rule and Jadakiss’s “New York” climbed 3,695%, with “Welcome to New York (Dipset)” by Cam’ron, Jay-Z and Juelz Santana close behind at 3,485%.
It’s been a wild weekend if you live in NYC. The Knicks won the NBA Finals in five games, the Puerto Rican Day Parade took over the city, and the hangover from the celebrations around the 53-year championship drought being snapped for the Knickerbockers is far from over. The reason the Knicks were able to close out the series as quickly as they did was OG Anunoby, whose last-second tip-in to take the lead in Game 4 sent them to San Antonio up 3-1. His performance in the playoffs may have just been the tipping point for him to get his own signature sneaker with Skechers, as brand president Michael Greenberg has confirmed OG’s shoe is in the works. “Skechers Basketball has been on the court for three seasons with a roster of players in the league – including superstar OG Anunoby,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers.
Massive crowds brought chaos to the streets of New York City after the New York Knicks clinched the team's first NBA championship in 53 years. After the final buzzer confirmed the Knicks' 94-90 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Texas' Frost Bank Center on Saturday, June 13, throngs of people sporting blue and orange flocked to the streets of all five boroughs. Amid the raucous celebration — which also followed the first World Cup game in the N.Y.C. area — a teenager was shot, four people were stabbed and five buses were set on fire, among other altercations, a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE.

Remember LeBron James' "Decision" back in 2010? That was Rose, James' agent at the time, and Worldwide Wes. Carmelo Anthony's trade from the Denver Nuggets to the Knicks in 2011? Leon and Wes. Dolan had a good relationship with both men during Anthony's seven seasons in New York and admired the loyalty they seemed to have with clients. Dolan is a lot of things. Irascible. Unpredictable. Meddlesome. But he's also loyal. So when he went to replace Jackson in 2019, he kept coming back to the idea of Rose and Wesley -- two men he knew could handle the pressure cooker of New York and identify the type of players who could thrive in that environment, too. But maybe even more importantly, he trusted them to do it and largely allowed them to operate without interference. Those who know Dolan best say he'd simply learned from his past that ownership involvement isn't always productive. Others suggest his focus was split between the Knicks and building the Sphere in Las Vegas.

Jace frederick: Fun fact: Spurs somehow won the clutch time minutes in this series 39-38 Shot 38% in the clutch to New York’s 32%

Bridges and Hart -- the other two parts of the "Nova Knicks" trio that also includes Jalen Brunson, three players who were NCAA champions at Villanova and teamed up in New York to try to do the same -- combined to score 27 points. Bridges had 14, Hart 13. "I don't know what I'm feeling," Brunson said. "I'm in awe. Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it."

Ian Begley: NYK owner James Dolan interrupts Josh Hart’s press conference to deliver a message to New Yorkers. “Please be safe tonight; don’t get hurt, don’t hurt anybody.. we’ll have a parade in New York on Thursday … be safe (tonight).”
