Chris Webber, the former N.B.A. All-Star, had recently moved to Atlanta to start a career as an analyst on TNT and needed a haircut. Nas, a close friend, pointed him to Mr. Harvey, who quickly won Mr. Webber over with his precise skills, endless supply of jokes and innate understanding that high-profile people want a cut far away from the spotlight. “That was my first introduction into the world of N.B.A. athletes,” Mr. Harvey recalled. “It’s really been about cultivating and building on those connections.”
Jamie Hudson: Injury Update: Blazers announce, that recent images of Nassir Little’s right hip “revealed a mild femoral head impaction fracture.” Nas is expected to miss the next six weeks of the season. #RipCity
Sean Highkin: Chauncey Billups on Nassir Little extending: “I’m proud of him. We’ve seen Nas grow last season to where we needed him to be. He’s a good guy, a good teammate, and I think he’ll be even better now that we’ve got him locked in.”

The crypto exchange market, known for providing an easy on-ramp for casual investors to buy bitcoin and other blockchain-based coins, went public via a direct listing. Coinbase shares closed at $328.28 today, valuing the company at $86 billion. That’s good news for KD, who bought into the investment platform through his and Rich Kleinman’s Thirty Five Ventures when it was valued at $1.6 billion. The rapper Nas’ venture fund invested in the Series B round, when Coinbase was valued at around $143 million.
Steve Stoute, the Knicks marketing consultant, hit the golf course recently wearing a pair of Bulls shorts, according to a photo posted to Instagram by sports and entertainment marketing executive Paul Rivera. Stoute was golfing with Rivera, the rapper Nas and Warriors star Draymond Green. Nas appeared to actually be wearing Knicks shorts but Stoute was sporting a pair that had “Bulls” printed largely across the front.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Yo, help me understand something. You have had the royal privilege to get in the studio with Biggie Smalls. Many people who rap can’t say that. What was Biggie like in the studio? Shaquille O’Neal: It was only four people that were the same way: Biggie, Jay-Z, KRS-One, and Nas. So a lot of times with me playing, it was the traditional – okay see if Biggie wanna rap with me. So we called Puff, Oh yeah Big likes you. Send the beat down. So we sent ‘You Can’t Stop the Reign’. Big said that he’ll jump on that. He’ll see you in two weeks. So now I’m in the studio that I built in my house and I go over the verse a million times because one: can’t be whack for Biggie. I can’t disrespect Biggie like that. So I went over my verse a million times. So when he came in, I was nervous. I played it and he started bobbin’ and said, ‘Okay big dog!’ That’s tight! That’s tight! I like that!… and I said, ‘You sure?’ and said, ‘Yeah that’s tight.’ I like that.
There's no better time of year for Drake to reinforce @champagnepapi than New Year's Eve ... and he definitely didn't disappoint on Monday night with his famous pals. Tons of celebs showed up and showed out to Drizzy's year-end bash at Delilah in West Hollywood, which was aptly dubbed The Mod Selection Champagne New Year's Party. Some of the folks in attendance ... LeBron, KD, Klay Thompson, Kate Beckinsale, Diddy, Nas, Chris Brown, Madison Beer, Idris Elba, and more.
Lloyd Pierce: "Now, I’m defending this dude from Canada with the flattop every day in practice. And his crossover game is nice! He shot 3s off the dribble effortlessly, threw the best lobs and had more swag than any player I’ve ever played with. And he backed it up. Something was just unreal about him. This guy is from British Columbia? Really? And he likes Nas’ new album, Illmatic? I had never known a white guy from Canada with swag and mad hoop skills, and who was into hip-hop … until I met [Steve Nash]!"

Mars Reel, a digital-media startup focused on high-school basketball athletes and teams, has closed its $4.7 million initial funding round with new investments from Drake, NBA star Dwayne Wade and Otter Media, now part of AT&T’s WarnerMedia. In addition to its cash investment, Otter Media will also serve as an adviser and strategic partner for Mars Reel in several areas. The new investors join a host of other previously announced backers from the worlds of sports and media, including NBA players LeBron James, Shane Battier, and Kevin Durant; hip-hop artist Nas; and actor Cedric Stewart.
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball created a stir earlier this season when he said modern rappers Future and Migos are better than hip-hop icon Nas. But older players aren’t trying to hear that. Where does a 25-year-old rookie from Serbia fall in this debate? He’s decidedly old-school. “I’m not really a fan of this new rap, trap, with the change of voices,” said Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic of what some call “mumble” rap. “I like the rhythm, I like the beat. The lyrics are stupid, but the beat is nice.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers subtly trolled — sorry, we’ve gotta leave that word in 2017 — Lonzo Ball by playing Nas’ “New York State of Mind” when the Los Angeles Lakers took the floor before Thursday’s game. You can hear Nas’ iconic single in the background of this video.
