The Brooklyn Nets are currently playing Summer League, but Cam Thomas’ future remains unresolved. The latest episode of The Zach Lowe Show on The Ringer shed some light on what is happening with the 23-year-old’s next contract. “The consensus on Cam Thomas — if there is one, and he's got some fans, and he's got some mega-detractors — but the consensus is kind of like empty calories, ball hog,” Lowe said in regards to Thomas’ perception around the league.
Egor Demin: Asked Egor Demin about adjusting to physicality and ball pressure of NBA defenders and what he needs to do to be able to handle it: "It’s a big transition. Same as it was when I just got to college and started playing conference games. The Providence game. Everybody saw this game. I can’t say it was the best experience I’ve ever had. But it was a really useful game because those games prepared me for the most important part of the season in March Madness where I was playing point guard full time. The games against Houston, the games against Iowa State, the games against Arizona, Baylor, where they’re really trying to break you. Especially me when they see me with the high dribbling, right? They’re really trying to, the coach is like, Yo! pressure! Pressure! For me, it’s just time and adjustment. I need to get used to that. Spend more time in practices handling the ball thanks to our guys who are not being selfish by not playing great defense against me. Tyson, Q, TJ, Dre, all these guys were guarding me in the practices, and it’s pretty hard. So, for me having these experiences, not just in the games, but in practice is huge.”
The Spot Up Shot: Official: The Bucks have signed Cole Anthony & Chris Livingston. The Hornets have signed Drew Peterson to a two-way contract. The Suns have waived Bradley Beal.

Those same league and team sources pointed out that Paul has made similar comments in the past, when James was playing for either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Lakers, when it was time to renegotiate a contract. The difference in this case: James had a deadline of June 29 to pick up his option or decline it and become a free agent, and there was only one team — the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets — with the cap space to even approach James’ salary.
Erik Slater: Egor Demin and Danny Wolf will not play in today’s Summer League game with the Nets on the front end of a back-to-back. No injuries. Both are resting. Tosan Evbuoman (hip contusion) and Tyson Etienne (illness) are also OUT.
Michael Scotto on Jonathan Kuminga: If the market doesn't dictate what he wants, ultimately, you can use that trade kicker to get back some of that money you feel like you may not be able to get at this point in the market given the teams that just don't have a lot of cap space. And with him, you'd have to be doing a sign-and-trade deal. I know some people have mentioned Brooklyn. I don't see that ultimately from my sources. So, I think that narrows it down a bit. Big picture, there's been talk about you guys in Sacramento for sure, but I also think if that's going to happen, there's got to be a moving of parts here, whether it's a Malik Monk to DeMar DeRozan, even if it's not to go somewhere like a three-team deal. So, there's a lot of variables to whether Jonathan Kuminga can go to Sacramento or anywhere. So ultimately there is a decent chance that he could stay in Golden State, get a deal that you can potentially look to flip going into the February trade deadline or possibly even a little bit before that. But essentially that's kind of where that situation is right now.

Marc Spears: I’m sure Jonathan Kuminga's in town um in Vegas supposed to meet with Steve Kerr and Mike Dunleavy Jr. and you know, try to figure it out and the Warriors hold all the cards. Yeah. Sad to say for Kuminga, man, he just has no power in this. It's a bad market for restricted free agents. Has Cam Thomas signed yet? No. Has Josh Giddy signed yet? Nope. It's just not a good market.
Terance Mann on being traded: “I was super excited. I was born there. Obviously, my whole family lives there. It's just a surreal feeling because where the arena is basically where I grew up. My mom was an assistant coach at LIU Brooklyn. I remember asking my mom like, ‘Yo, what are they building over there?’ And she’s like, ‘I think Jay-Z's bringing the Nets from New Jersey to Brooklyn.’ I was in Miami with the Hawks actually, and I walked into my room and got the phone call.”
Terance Mann on not eating bananas: I was walking on Time Square just eating a banana and then I just got sick out of nowhere and started throwing up on the street. On the street of Time Square. Cameron Brink: Time Square? Mann: Yeah. Throwing up into the trash. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was like probably like six. Brink: Oh, you were a baby. Mann: Yeah. I don't know why, but I felt like it was the banana. So then after that, I was like, I'm going to try again. Whatever. Chop it up, put it in my cereal, threw up again. And then ever since then, it's over. I haven't had one since.
Erik Slater: Asked Egor Demim about playing with Michael Porter Jr: “For me, it’s really important that he’s on the team. I'm super happy... At BYU, I had Trevin Knell, one of the best shooters in the country. And now I have one of the best shooters in the league, which is in the world.” pic.x.com/RX4f1NBKjK
