Kendrick Perkins: But you have levels of not liking each other—because you're around each other so much. You’re gonna have attitude. Like KG... quiet as kept—he’ll tell the story now—but James Posey was the leader of our team. KG, at times, hated this motherf*cker. Guess why he hated Posey? One—because Po guarded him in practices. Our practices—our white vs. green practices—we looked forward to going harder at each other in practice than in games. Games would end and we’d be like, “Yo, we gonna bust your ass tomorrow.” "Y’all got us f**ed up!"* And the one thing Po used to do? Every ride—on the bus, on the plane—he had on a suit... And guess what else he had? He had his championship ring from Miami. He used to sit there—KG sat in the last seat—Pose would sit across from him and put that ring on his thigh, with it just popping out. And KG would be like, “He’s doing this on purpose.”

Shaquille O'Neal: "When I was with Miami, Pat Riley came to me and said, ‘I can give you the full $120 million you’re asking for, but we won’t be able to sign anybody else, or I can give you $100 million, and we’ll bring in Udonis Haslem, James Posey, and Gary Payton.’ I took the $100 million because I wanted to win. I had enough money. I had the biggest house. I didn’t need more. What I needed was to win another championship. That’s how we won in Miami. It wasn’t just about me. It was about the team. I wanted to win, and that meant bringing in other players who could help us get there."

James Posey is now back in the NBA, after some time in women's college basketball and also a stint as a podcaster and blogger. He sees all of it as a journey to collect experience on the way to his ultimate goal, one he's not afraid to proclaim. "I want to be a head coach at the end of the day," he said. "I'm just keeping my head down, working hard and hopefully I'll show enough progress to where the opportunity presents itself. Outside of that, I have fun every day. Every day is another day in paradise. I love what I do."
