With the move, Hachimura is able to stay in Los Angeles, a place he's made home, and play for a franchise that will give him a real opportunity to showcase his abilities. “Above all, being able to stay in LA is the best outcome for me,” Hachimura added. “They support their players of course, their families and inner circles from what I hear. Plus they have a brand new arena with advanced physical and medical support and all kinds of useful tools for physical training. I'm really looking forward to all of it. “My top priority was winning. Josh Robbins: Wizards wing Jamir Watkins underwent surgery today to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, a team source told @TheAthleticNBA. Watkins, who is on a two-way contract, suffered the injury during the Wizards’ NBA Summer League opener. He could miss the entire 2026-27 season.
For the first time in five years, the NBA will not play any preseason games in the Middle East, sources told ESPN. The decision comes amid the war between the United States and Iran and the ongoing conflict in the region. While the NBA never announced preseason games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this year, as it had for the previous four years, sources told ESPN that the league had held discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards about potentially participating in the games.
So LeBron chose the 76ers, and the Warriors are left to wonder what might have been. Should they have tried to trade Jimmy Butler and draft picks for Anthony Davis? At summer league in Las Vegas, a small contingent of Golden State’s front office pushed for that path, but AD’s injury history and desire for a new extension ultimately convinced team brass to stay put.
Sources said DAZN is also likely to add a non-exclusive streaming deal with at least one more NBA team in coming weeks -- perhaps the Wizards, who Segev specifically mentioned are clients of new DAZN partner ViewLift -- meaning DAZN could house one-third of the league by the start of the 2026-27 season. With the NBA about to launch a centralized hub for local broadcasts ahead of the 2027-28 season, the agreements would seem to carry both risk and enormous business upside. Outside of the Knicks and Nets -- who Segev said have multi-year deals -- sources told SBJ that each of the seven other potential NBA teams have asked for either one-year deals or one-year exit clauses in anticipation of the league’s aggregated hub.

Sharif Phillips-Keaton: The Nets have announced their preseason schedule for the 2026-27 NBA season. Brooklyn will be playing at the Hornets on Oct. 6, vs. the 76ers on Oct. 8, at the Wizards on Oct. 12, and at the Heat on Oct. 14. All of the games will be broadcast on YES Network.
Another player new to the Top 5 in this distinction, like James, is veteran swingman Khris Middleton, who signed a three-year, $17.61 million contract this offseason to rejoin the Washington Wizards. Middleton's new deal will pay him $5.59 million next season, after his previous deal had him earning $35.09 million last year, for a pay cut of $29.50 million, now the fourth-largest ever.
But that’s all this is: speculation. The Warriors have not engaged the Wizards and the sides haven’t had substantive talks about Anthony Davis, according to a source with knowledge of the Warriors’ offseason direction. Wizards general manager Will Dawkins has also sought to shut down trade rumors in public interviews.
