At the last minute, according to an informed source, after meeting with Michigan State officials, Izzo was convinced to remain in East Lansing. Taylor liked Izzo a lot, and the meetings between the two were very positive. Word is the Spartans, in the end, came up with an annuity package that Izzo couldn’t refuse.

Magic Johnson recalled that after his rookie season in the NBA, he returned to East Lansing as an NBA champion and the NBA Finals MVP. He was in the gym working out just three days after the title when Jud Heathcote approached. “E, you didn’t do this,” Johnson said, imitating the late coach’s gravely voice. “I just won an NBA championship," Johnson said. "I just was named MVP. He didn’t congratulate me on any of it. No. ‘We’ve got to get back to work on that hook shot. Come on, let’s go. Let’s go to work. We get to work.'”
Smith was walking around East Lansing, Michigan (the Cavs play the Pistons on Friday) when he started joking about how LeBron is following him everywhere. "I can't go nowhere and get away from this motherf**ker," Smith said while pointing the camera at a Blaze Pizza sign. FYI, James is an investor, franchisee and paid endorser of the pizza company. Green mostly nodded as Colangelo spoke, then sat down to apologize and explain how he could be involved in another embarrassing incident fewer than two weeks after reaching a plea deal with East Lansing, Mich., prosecutors for an assault charge from earlier this summer. After initially claiming on Twitter that the Snapchat account that posted the image was “hacked,” Green fessed up and admitted he simply erred in publishing it to the masses. “It was a situation where it was meant to be a private message. I hit the wrong button. Sucks,” Green said, arms folded as he spoke. “It was meant to be private. We’re all one click away from placing something in the wrong place, and I suffered from that this morning.”

Green was arrested Sunday after a fight at a restaurant in East Lansing, Michigan. He was released on $200 bond, and his arraignment is scheduled for July 20. If convicted, he would face a maximum of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine. "I think when things happen, I think you meet them head-on," Green told reporters Tuesday in Aspen, Colorado. "My legal team is handling it. It will be resolved really quickly. As a public figure, I just can't put myself in certain situations. It's something that I'll learn from and just move on."
A request for waiver of arraignment filed by Draymond Green's attorney has been approved by East Lansing District Court Judge Andrea Andrews Larkin, according to court records filed Tuesday. The request -- filed by James Heos, a Lansing-based attorney -- means Green will not have to appear in an East Lansing court to be arraigned on an assault charge. The charge stems from a Sunday morning incident outside a downtown East Lansing restaurant. Green, a former Michigan State standout and current member of the Golden State Warriors, is alleged to have struck another man.
TMZ Sports spoke to people who saw Draymond chilling in East Lansing Saturday night, and they say a guy much shorter than the NBA star was repeatedly heckling him. We're told Draymond got fed up and allegedly slapped the guy, but unfortunately for him ... a police officer was nearby and saw the whole thing. We obtained video of cops taking Draymond into custody ... walking him to their patrol car. We're told the heckler appeared to be a Michigan State student-athlete, which is weird since Green was a beloved MSU hoops star.
