As Dave Fleming once documented for ESPN The Magazine, elite athletes push their bodies in ways that can cause profound poop problems, even during competition. That’s true for surfers, runners, triathletes, football players … and NBA players. “That’s definitely a thing,” NBA veteran Lance Thomas once told me. “Usually when someone’s at the free-throw line you notice it. Especially if they’re wearing white.” “I’ve seen a couple white shorts where you see someone had a little accident on the back,” Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker told me a couple years ago. “Just ask any equipment manager.”
Alex Schiffer: Jacque Vaughn said there's a chance Lance Thomas plays tomorrow. Said he's currently scheduled to get some minutes but that could always change.
Alex Schiffer: Jarrett Allen stressing Lance Thomas' veteran experience as a big plus to the Nets. Points out that almost all of the Nets positive tests were to veterans, which has been felt in the bubble.

Alex Schiffer: Lance Thomas said he spent a lot of time working out at the NBPA's gym during the season. Didn't leave his house until June due to the pandemic, but did his best to stay in shape.
Ian Begley: Lance Thomas has finalized his deal with the Brooklyn Nets, per SNY sources.
Brian Lewis: Jacque Vaughn couldn’t comment on Lance Thomas report. Asked if they’ve had anybody fail a coronavirus test, opt-out or get hurt. He replied “I’m not going to mess with a HIPPA violation,” but says “we’re going to have a team.” #Nets

Ian Begley: The Nets are close to a deal with ex-Knick Lance Thomas, per SNY sources. Brooklyn currently has 13 players on its roster, including recent additions of Jamal Crawford, Michael Beasley and Donta Hall.
Ian Begley: Lance Thomas is among the free agents on the Nets’ radar as the club looks to replace those unavailable to play in Orlando due to coronavirus, per league sources.
In terms of other potential roster moves, Several teams heading to Orlando for the NBA's restart have expressed strong interest in signing Long Island Nets' Justin Anderson, per SNY sources. Those playoff contenders highly value Anderson's defense. Anderson was named to the third All-NBA G League team. Several teams have also expressed interest in former Knick/Net veteran Lance Thomas, sources say.
However, they had to do something. For now, they’ll try Melo, but his non-guaranteed contract gives Portland the flexibility to try something else at the snap of a finger. If he doesn’t work they’ll try calling somebody up from the G League (some plausible names: Jarrod Uthoff, Marcus Derrickson, and Dedric Lawson), or turn to another veteran chilling on his couch (Dante Cunningham and Lance Thomas are waiting by their phones, among others), or work the angles for a low-stakes trade.
