Karl-Anthony Towns didn’t expect to make it to Barclays Center on Friday night. But he followed the wishes of his father, Karl Sr., who is recovering from a medical procedure, and dropped 26 points with 15 rebounds in a 93-92 win over the Nets. “I wasn’t going to play. My pops was adamant he wanted me to play,” said Towns, who was listed as questionable for personal reasons before tipoff. “So I said I would. So I showed up just for the game to play. I’m going to head right back out and go be with him again for the road to recovery.” Karl Sr., a former star at Monmouth University, is a mainstay at his son’s games, frequently flying commercial to follow the Knicks on road trips. Towns lost his mother, Jacqueline Cruz, to COVID-19 in 2020. Sources said Karl Sr.’s medical issue is not life-threatening.

But the commercial came out pretty dope.”
The Dominican Republic appeared to be shortchanged by the home plate umpire, who proceeded to call two questionable third strikes on Juan Soto and Geraldo Perdomo — with Perdomo's at-bat being the last of the game — en route to a 2-1 win for Team USA, who are now headed to the WBC final. After the game, the Knicks star, who has represented Dominican Republic in FIBA competition, expressed his disagreement over the way his home country was knocked out of the WBC in animated fashion “Hell yeah, that was a ball, man! That was some bulls**t. They should have had a chance. They had Tatis Jr. coming up. Come on, man,” Towns told reporters, via Knicks Videos on SNY on X (formerly Twitter).

What's your level of concern after losing three of four? You haven't been in a stretch like this since late January. Karl-Anthony Towns: I know there'll be noise, but at the end of the day, we just have to continue to worry about what's in this locker room, stay in the present, continue to worry about what we can control, and continue to find ways to get better. I think we found ways to get better in these last two games. I know it sounds weird, but I think we have to build off the things we've been doing well, and the things we haven't done well, we obviously have to correct. But there's a recipe there for success, and we just have to continue to work on the formula.
