Gilbert’s sports assets sit within Rock Entertainment Group and also include the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL and Cleveland Charge in the NBA G League. Montreal Nets!?! Buried in the Long Island Nets press release on next season’s schedule is a note that Long Island will play six home games at Place Bell in suburban Montreal, two each in January, February and March. The release did not provided details on reason why the games won’t be held at Nassau Coliseum, saying only “updates will be released at a later date.” NetsDaily has been told in fact that the update will be released Wednesday. One strong possibility: the Nets, with their aggressive international marketing campaign, will use the trips to extend the team’s brand to Montreal, just as they did in Paris last season with the NBA Paris Game with Brooklyn-flavored events. Place Bell, located in suburban Laval, has a capacity of 10,000 for hockey and is the home of the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League, an affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.
The over-the-air renaissance continues in sports media as Dan Gilbert’s Rock Entertainment Group (REG), the holding company for the Cleveland Cavaliers and other properties, is launching a sports platform with Gray Media called the Rock Entertainment Sports Network. The new venture will broadcast live games for several other teams under the REG umbrella—the Cleveland Charge (the Cavs’ NBA G League affiliate), the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League—as well as high school varsity sports. Games will be shown on Gray’s local affiliate stations in Cleveland (WUAB, WOIO) and Cincinnati (WXIX).
As if that weren’t enough to sustain Podoloff’s legacy and memory on Silver’s watch, he was — you should excuse the nearly discarded Pollyanna expression — living proof of the American Dream. Fleeing murderous pogroms in Russia, Podoloff’s Jewish family emigrated to New Haven, Conn. — where Podoloff, in his early teens, learned English and in 1915 earned his law degree from Yale. Along the way to establishing the NBA, he served as commissioner of the American Hockey League, thus a chosen leader of two sports at one time while also serving as a distinguished attorney.
Cayette will oversee corporate and ticket sales revenue and strategy, corporate partnerships, as well as youth sports programs and membership sales and service, including premium, group and individual ticket platforms. As chief commercial officer, Cayette also will oversee all revenue generation from corporate partners and ticket sales and service across the Rock Entertainment Group family of teams and properties, which includes the Cleveland Charge of the NBA G League, the Cavs Legion GC (NBA 2K) and the Cleveland Monsters (AHL).

Marc J. Spears: The Cavaliers name Kevin Clayton as Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement, a new position for all organizational properties including the Cavs, AHL Cleveland Monsters, G-League Canton Charge, AFL Cleveland Gladiators, NBA 2KL Cavs Legion and Quicken Loans Arena.
Of course, not every team employee will get the same, diamond crusted ring that's going to rest on the fingers of James, and Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, but ticket takers, seat ushers, security guards, Cleveland police officers, and all who work behind the scenes at Cavs home games will be able to say they won a ring. And they'll have proof. The same goes for rings commemorating the Lake Erie Monsters' AHL Calder Cup victory from last season. Virtually all employees involved with Monsters' operations, including some who work for the Columbus Blue Jackets (the Monsters' NHL affiliate) will get rings.
Attanasio is also part owner of the Milwaukee Admirals, an American Hockey League team, and was a major sponsor in the Andy Warhol exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Kohl, who is incredibly guarded about his personal dealings, has been mum about any potential sale. Instead, Kohl said he still derives much pleasure from owning the Bucks and now that his senatorial duties are done, intends on being even more involved with the team.

Minnesotan Kris Humphries, newly cut from the Kardashian klan and on the outside looking in as the NBA season is nearing its delayed Opening Day, is being offered a chance to play professional hockey. The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League is offering the 6-foot-9 forward a spot on the roster or in the front office. "We would welcome Kris Humphries to Syracuse, where unlike Hollywood there are no paparazzi within hundreds of miles and he could reclaim his privacy and self-esteem," Crunch General Manager Vance Lederman said in a statement. "Being from Minnesota, Humphries will surely enjoy the hockey and feel right at home in the cold, gray, dismal weather we experience this time of year in central New York."
But the AHL's Syracuse Crunch suspects that all Humphries needs in order to resurrect his career and restore his good name is escape from the hellish Kardashian limelight and get back into game shape. And how better to do that than by joining the Crunch in New York? The AHL club has offered Humphries a spot on the team. From SyracuseCrunch.com: "We would welcome Kris Humphries to Syracuse, where unlike Hollywood there are no paparazzi within hundreds of miles and he could reclaim his privacy and self-esteem," said Syracuse Crunch General Manager Vance Lederman. "Being from Minnesota, Humphries will surely enjoy the hockey and feel right at home in the cold, gray, dismal weather we experience this time of year in Central New York."
A well placed source in Bellevue tells KING 5 News there has been movement on the quest to build a new arena to house an NHL and/or an NBA team. The source says Don Levin, a wealthy Chicago businessman, recently came to the region, and expressed interest in being part of an effort build an arena. He's currently the owner of the AHL's Chicago Wolves, which play in the American Hockey League. But the source stresses it is early in the process, and Levin is only one of a handful of people who have recently expressed interest in an arena project. The other interested parties have local ties.
