How about Haywood Highsmith? Jovan Buha: I haven't heard anything specifically on Haywood Highsmith other than it just seems like the Lakers were not comfortable with where he's at physically right now. So we'll see if he ends up signing elsewhere and how he potentially looks, but… I was on board with Highsmith. If he was physically ready I would have signed him over Kobe Bufkin, but yeah, I like Highsmith.

Brad Turner: Lakers announced they have signed guard Kobe Bufkin. Bufkin (6’4”, 195) has appeared in 14 regular season games (13 starts) with the South Bay Lakers this season, averaging 27.7 points on 52.2 percent shooting from the field, 43.1 percent from 3-point range.

After drafting three point guards in the first round in June, why would Brooklyn trade for a fourth that had been a first-round pick just two years ago? Partly because they liked Kobe Bufkin that year, but he was long gone by the time they picked. Maybe Nets assistant Juwan Howard, who had coached him at Michigan, put in a good word. But the main reason was simple. “I don’t think you ever have enough ball handlers, right? Making plays for others is always important,” said coach Jordi Fernández, who saw his Nets add Bufkin to a point-guard platoon that includes rookies Egor Dëmin, Nolan Traore and Ben Saraf.
Indiana, searching for guard depth after Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles injury, was among the teams monitoring Kobe Bufkin, sources told RG. Atlanta plans to move forward with Luke Kennard and Nickeil Alexander-Walker taking on consistent ball-handling responsibilities in addition to Trae Young, sources tell RG. The Hawks’ coaching staff has worked closely with Alexander-Walker in Toronto ahead of taking on a more expanded offensive role than he held with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
