The Phoenix Suns, who are seeking power forward depth, are among several teams that have checked in on San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan, league sources told HoopsHype. Suns center Nick Richards was brought up during exploratory talks, sources said. However, such a move would push the Suns further above the luxury tax, which is not ideally something Phoenix wants to do.

John Gambadoro: I won’t rule this out as I believe this is something that has been talked about - probably won’t happen but I can not shoot it down. Evan Sidery: The Knicks and Suns have discussed a swap of Guerschon Yabusele for Nick Richards. Phoenix would also send out Nigel Hayes-Davis’ veteran minimum salary to a facilitating team in order to duck the luxury tax altogether.

The Raptors have also been mentioned as a potential Gafford suitor depending on the course Toronto ultimately chooses in its well-chronicled pursuit of frontcourt help: Chasing an All-Star-caliber big man like Dallas' Anthony Davis or Sacramento's Sabonis … or focusing on veteran targets on more trade-friendly contracts such as Gafford or Phoenix's Nick Richards.

The Toronto Raptors have explored the trade market in search of a backup center upgrade and are also looking to duck below the luxury tax, league sources told HoopsHype. Phoenix Suns center Nick Richards is among the centers on the trade market that Toronto has expressed interest in, sources said.
Phoenix has made Nick Richards available for trade since this past summer, league sources say. I've also been told that Portland is forecasted to be more willing to move Robert Williams III this season compared to last season, when the Trail Blazers maintained a high asking price for the oft-injured big man.
Duane Rankin: Jordan Ott confirmed Mark Williams isn't injured as the Suns had a scrimmage today. Nick Richards, Khaman Maluach and Oso Ighodaro have been getting most of the work as far as the bigs in camp. "He's in a good place. We want Mark to know is we care about him this year and going forward so we have a really intentional plan for him."
Eduardo Villalpando: Norman Powell will make his debut for the Jamaican National Team during next month’s FIBA window in Mexico, a league source tells me. Jamaica will face Mexico, Barbados, and Costa Rica in World Cup Qualifiers. Suns big man Nick Richards will also join the squad. 🇯🇲

Then there’s Nick Richards. The Suns fully guaranteed the final year of his contract at $5 million, league sources confirmed to The Arizona Republic.

Fred Katz: As expected, the Suns are holding onto Nick Richards, league sources tell The Athletic. Richards’ $5 million salary is expected to guarantee today for the 2025-26 season.
