The Bucks star forward Antetokounmpo had a frightening moment while in Brazil, a viral video showed on Monday. Antetokounmpo was in Rio de Janeiro to dedicate a basketball court in his name in the city. In front of the crowd that had gathered, Antetokounmpo decided to inaugurate the court with a dunk. Unfortunately for Antetokounmpo though, he slipped on the court as he was going up for the jam and took a pretty hard spill.

That is, indeed, the plan. Curry was one of the 12 names formally announced by USA Basketball on Wednesday as the initial roster for this year’s Paris Olympics. It’s entirely possible that the roster gets tweaked between now and the first practice in early July — injuries or long playoff runs could spark changes — but Curry has been planning to make his Olympic debut this summer for some time. “I wanted to play in the last two that I was eligible for,” Curry said, referring to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the Tokyo Games that were delayed to 2021 because of the pandemic. “Watching guys that I’ve been competing against the last 10 years all have that experience win gold medals, watching three of my teammates (Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green) win gold medals, I knew I wanted to do that.”
"Monty and I are very special friends," Krzyzewski told The Detroit News. "I love him and I think the world of him. He's an outstanding coach and he's an outstanding person. "His ability to relate to the players was just fantastic. His knowledge of the game — he's just a good teacher and he's a team player. He's very humble, not about him. It's about what the team is doing, and I think the world of him. He helped me so much during that time." Team USA went 26-0 during Williams' first run as an assistant (2013-16) under Krzyzewski. The men's national team won gold medals at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He remained on the staff for a second stint under a new coaching staff led by Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
Sasa Djordjevic is close to becoming the new China national team head coach, Dejan Prlina from Maxbetsports reports. For Djordjevic, it would be the second job with a national team. Previously, he led Serbia from 2013 to 2019. He won three silver medals with the Serbian national team – the 2014 World Cup, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro summer Olympics, and the 2017 EuroBasket.
Tim Bontemps: In his postgame interview on NBC, Jayson Tatum said he remembered "being in high school" watching Kevin Durant and Draymond Green win the gold medal in Rio, only to now win one with them in Tokyo. Pretty wild how much things have changed for him over the past five years.

Curry has won a pair of gold medals playing for Team USA in the world championships but was unable to participate in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro because he was recovering from knee and ankle injuries. "There's always that itch to play and play on the biggest stage like the Olympics, but it just wasn't the right thing for me and the right time," Curry said.
A year after the Warriors cut Varejao, he returned to his home country of Brazil when he signed with Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro, which is the club he has been a fan of growing up. At 36 years old, he played in 44 games across all competitions with Flamengo this season and averaged 10.4 points and 6.7 rebounds. “I haven’t felt the way I’ve been feeling in a long time, especially after the injuries I had,” Varejao said. “I actually feel like I’m at my best, running and everything. “
Last summer Boban Marjanovic was left out of the Serbian national team squad that won silver medal in Rio. But as he told Eurohoops, he plans to make a comeback in the upcoming Eurobasket tournament. “I hope so. I hope to be there. It depends… it Sasa Djordjevic. If he calls me or not. If he calls me, I’ll be there. I’m available.”
After dealing with ankle and knee injuries last season, Stephen Curry made the wise decision not to travel to Rio de Janeiro. No one should doubt, though, that he'll be on the plane to Japan in four years when the Games are staged in Tokyo. "The way it went down this past year with the injury, it was the right decision," Curry said to FIBA.com in his hometown of Charlotte, where he recently played for the Golden State Warriors against the Hornets.
The three-time gold-medal-winning coach praised Cousins for sticking with Team USA after initially being on the USA Select Team in 2012 following his one season at Kentucky in 2009-10. Cousins was added to the national team in 2014 and won gold medals at that year's world championship in Madrid and the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this past summer. "For him to come back and still want it, it said a lot about how much he wanted to do it," Krzyzewski told Calipari. "He came through for us big time. He's tough as hell. He is so damn talented. I don't think he has a position. You can't call him a 5 or a 4. Just call him a great player."

Since the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this summer, the Chicago Bulls All-Star swingman has packed a football with him on trips. The football, given to him by Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Antonio Brown, has made appearances in NBA arenas and practice facilities all across the country and is sure to be seen on the Bulls' current six-game road trip, which starts in Portland on Tuesday night and ends in Philadelphia on Nov. 25. For a team that struggled with unity last season, the football has become a symbol of what the Bulls hope will be a more cohesive group this season. Dwyane Wade noted that when his friends ask about his new team, one of the first things he mentions is the ball.
In particular, the failures to comply with the applicable statutory framework which led to the suspension include, among others: Non-participation in international competitions, such as continental youth competitions and 3x3 Senior world championships, as well as failure to organise the 3x3 World Tour event in Rio de Janeiro. A high number of players has already been affected by these absences, since they have missed the opportunity to qualify and play internationally in the upcoming years. At national level, important youth national championships have been cancelled by CBB.
Is that what will stick with you or more the pride of representing the country and overcoming odds to make it there in the first place? A.B.: A mix of both. Look, we've never medaled in an Olympics, even a bronze. We were so close. The Serbia game was the one I was really disappointed in. We just got absolutely annihilated. The Spain game, FIBA had its say in that one. I'm still a firm believer in that. You look at the game tape and see their last four points are free throws, and they weren't fouls. That was probably the most disappointing thing, but you can't cry over spilled milk. We've got to move on from it, but [it was] just disappointing that we were so close to getting a medal and lost the bronze-medal game by one point.
On Wednesday morning, the staff of Pacers Sports & Entertainment gathered on the main court at Bankers Life Fieldhouse to congratulate Pacers forward Paul George on winning a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. George, the first Pacers player to win an Olympic medal since Reggie Miller in 1996, arrived to thunderous applause from the large crowd of employees. With his gold medal draped around his neck, PG shook hands with Pacers President/COO Rick Fuson.
