Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., accused former special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday of committing perjury when he denied having attended a specific Atlanta Hawks basketball game in 2024 — to Smith’s apparent confusion. The attempted trick play happened during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Smith’s now-scuttled investigations into President Donald Trump. But it soon emerged that Schmitt had the wrong team.

Tatum, 27, hails from St. Louis, Missouri, where he learned from his father, Justin, the importance – or, better yet, the infatuation – of regularly getting his hair cut. The former Saint Louis University basketball star told Andscape there was a time during his son’s youth that he went to the barber twice a week, which included getting a lining during one sitting and a haircut the other. So, like father, like son, Jayson eventually got infatuated with having a fresh haircut. “My dad definitely introduced me to the barbershop,” Jayson said. “And like most kids, I didn’t like getting my hair cut. But around 12, 13, 14 age range was, you start to have some different interests. Getting my hair cut definitely became a priority. I eventually started getting my hair cut more than he did.”

The Kroenkes have a fondness for Micael Porter that stems from deep ties to their shared alma mater: Missouri. Sources with knowledge of Denver's thinking have maintained for some time that they struggled to envision ownership ever approving a deal that would send Porter away from the franchise.

The Kings' guard had 26 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to finish with a franchise-record 60 points, besting Jack Twyman's 59 points for the Cincinnati Royals in 1960 and DeMarcus Cousins' 56-point performance in 2016, which was the most since the franchise moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Sacramento in 1985. Twyman's had been the longest standing single-game franchise record in the NBA. With Fox breaking the mark, the new longest standing single-game franchise record for points belongs to Bob Pettit in 1961, who co-holds the Hawks record with Dominique Wilkins and Lou Hudson. "I knew I was nice already, so I wouldn't really say so," Fox said when asked if he learned anything about himself.
All with the willingness to still grow his game, which stood among the deciding factors when he agreed to his one-year, veteran-minimum guaranteed contract. “The way they develop their guys, no matter their age, no matter the years, they just make everybody better,” the soft-spoken Missouri native said, with the Heat idle until Wednesday night’s season opener against the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center. “I think that’s what I’ve learned so far, is their development of any type of player.”

Jon Chekpevich: Missouri’s Sean East II has agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, I’m told. The 6’2 ½" combo guard averaged 17.6 PTS, 4.0 AST, 3.5 REB on a 63.0 TS% this season. Led the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in points + earned a G League Elite Camp nod.
