If anyone is wondering how the veteran guard feels less than a month after being dealt to the Charlotte Hornets from the Utah Jazz, the bouncy nature of Sexton’s steps is a dead giveaway. And that’s just on the exterior. Inside, it’s downright obvious he’s nearly ready to burst. “Super excited,” Sexton said during a chat with The Observer. “Super grateful for the opportunity. Ready to come in and help build the culture, and just be a leader right away. I feel like the last couple of weeks practicing and stuff, it’s been a lot of fun but also getting used to the guys.”
Dwyane Wade: Getting a young guy like Ace Bailey, the talent that he has, you cannot pass him up, y'all. Like, there's no way. Even though the rumor mill was saying that he wanted to go to certain teams, there's no way you can pass him up, right? He's too talented. He's one of those he's one of those guys that just walk in the gym and he can get you 30. He just he's just one of those Melo-type of score-type of players, right? And so you had to get him. And so I thought Denny and you know and the staff did an amazing job of grabbing a young fella. And then we all know what we heard from a media standpoint, but ultimately, the young man and his family made their way down to Utah and he seemed excited to be there. He got right to the court.
It would be too much to describe Lauri Markkanen as untouchable, but the Jazz still project the All-Star forward as a key player in their future core. Utah listened to offers for Markkanen last summer, but none of the talks with other teams ever came close to tempting CEO Danny Ainge and GM Justin Zanik to make a trade. The Jazz ultimately awarded Markkanen a five-year, $238 million maximum renegotiation and extension, allowing him to sign the deal last Aug. 7 and making him ineligible to be traded before last season's deadline.

Tom Orsborn: Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant will both be active tonight, I've been told. Spurs look to push their Vegas SL record to 3-0 against the Utah Jazz tonight at Thomas & Mack Center. Jazz are expected to be without No. 5 overall pick Ace Bailey. Harper's teammate at Rutgers has a sore hip.
Tony Jones: I’m told Ace Bailey’s hip flexor is a true day-to-day thing and that he hasn’t been ruled out of summer league. Same with John Tonje. The two are being evaluated daily and their availability is based on those evaluations
Andy Larsen: Draft picks Ace Bailey (hip flexor soreness) and Walter Clayton Jr (hamstring soreness) won’t play in today’s summer league game. RJ Luis also won’t (knee soreness). John Tonje has been upgraded to doubtful (ankle sprain).
Ira Winderman: With Kevin Love gone, Erik Spoelstra says leadership has to come from all levels. Mentions Tyler Herro.
Sarah Todd: Brice Sensabaugh, Taylor Hendricks, Svi Mykhailiuk and KJ Martin are here to watch the Jazz Summer League team. Also, all Jazz players on the court are wearing warmup shirts that have Frank Layden and the #1 on the back.

Marc Stein: One of the game’s great coaches, executives and especially characters. For NBA fans in the 1980s, Frank Layden was everywhere. For NBA writers? As quotable as it gets. Condolences to Scott and the whole Layden family and Jazz fans everywhere. Frank will be sorely missed.
Frank Layden, known around Utah for his impact in the basketball community, has died at the age of 93. Layden passed away Wednesday, the Deseret News confirmed. ABC 4’s Wesley Ruff was the first to report the news.
Layden went 277-294 during the regular season as the Jazz’s head coach. Under Layden, Utah made the playoffs five times, reaching the conference semifinals three times. One of his greatest accomplishments as an NBA executive with the Jazz was drafting Hall of Famers John Stockton and Karl Malone in back-to-back years, turning the franchise into a perennial playoff contender and eventually leading the Jazz to the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998.
