Drew Brees on when Anthony Davis left the Pelicans and is he happy with AD’s success on the Los Angeles Lakers: “I’m really happy for Anthony Davis. I hate that it wasn’t with the Pelicans; it would’ve been nice to have him here. I hated when CP3 left and that was back in the Hornets days, you know? But bottom line I think those guys were great for the organization and I think that they left a mark in a positive way, and we just have to continue to find ways to build with young talent and veteran leadership and see if we can put together a winning formula.“

Drew Brees on his thoughts on the New Orleans Pelicans …

Drew Brees on his thoughts on the New Orleans Pelicans and who he enjoys watching on that team: “I think that they’re a team that a couple years ago during my last year and that’s when we drafted Zion [Williamson] and we drafted Jackson Hayes, right? I think there was a ton of excitement around the team. I feel like we’re in no shortage of this young talent, right? But it’s a matter of putting it all together. [Brandon] Ingram has proven to be an UNBELIEVABLE scorer and I think whenever you build a team, it’s a combination of veteran leadership along with young productive guys that can continue to grow and develop and they gotta stay healthy though, you know? I always feel that we’ve been always fighting the injury bug in the last few years so, we gotta find a way to stay healthy and get our way into the playoffs and start ascending once we get there.”

The Players Coalition has gathered the signatures of more than 1,400 current and retired athletes, coaches, general managers and staff members from the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball, including on a letter to the United States Congress supporting a bill to end qualified immunity, which makes it difficult to sue police officers for brutality. Among the prominent athletes and coaches who signed the letter are Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott, Myles Garrett, Alex Bregman, CC Sabathia, Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich. U.S. Representatives Justin Amash, L-Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley, D-Massachusetts, introduced the bill June 4, seeking to eliminate the doctrine of qualified immunity and give Americans a better chance to hold police and other public officials accountable in court, when the citizens believe their constitutional rights are violated.

Don't let the media divide you! Don't let social media divide you!"

O'Neal discussed being present for the Saints' meeting last Thursday on TNT. He said he wouldn't discuss his message to the Saints out of respect to coach Sean Payton's wishes. He did, however, discuss how Brees' apology was accepted by his teammates. "They said, 'Drew, we know your character. We know you stepped in some stuff that you can't get out of, but guess what: We want you to do more positive things and less talking.' And they all said we accept your apology," O'Neal said. One Saints player told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that he didn't know O'Neal was addressing the team until the end of the call and thought it was a surprise by Payton. "He started speaking and I was like, 'Oh, s---, it's Shaq,'" the player told Fowler.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees doesn’t see himself and Pelicans rookie forward Zion Williamson as an odd couple from different generations and sports. Brees sees key parallels in the timing of each of their arrivals on New Orleans’ pro sports scene, and is eager to share what he’s learned if it can help Williamson understand the task — and opportunity — at hand. “Certainly, I am always going to be there for Zion,” Brees said after practice Thursday at Saints training camp. “Whatever I can do to help guide, to help advise, to help mentor, I’m there.”
