The Nuggets have downgraded Aaron Gordon (right hamstring strain) to questionable for Sunday’s game against Charlotte. Jamal Murray (left ankle sprain / illness) and Bruce Brown (right knee inflammation) are probable.
Vinny Benedetto: Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Bruce Brown are all available tonight, the Nuggets announce.
Denver Nuggets: Injury Update ahead of tonight’s game against the Hawks: AVAILABLE: Christian Braun (Left Ankle Sprain) Bruce Brown (Right Knee Inflammation) Aaron Gordon (Right Hamstring Strain) OUT: Jamal Murray (Left Ankle Sprain, Illness) Spencer Jones (Left Ankle Inflammation, Illness Nikola Jokić (Left Knee Bone Bruise) Cameron Johnson (Right Knee Bone Bruise) Jonas Valančiūnas (Right Calf Strain)

Johnson, like several other Nuggets players and personnel, has had discussions with Jokić about his horse operation. They respect how much he cares and the lengths he goes during the year to try to follow what is going on with the ones he cares about most. “He gets happy talking about it, for sure,” Johnson said. Veteran guard Bruce Brown has been Jokić’s teammate during two separate stints in Denver and knows that while Jokić’s passion is pretty unique in league circles, it’s something his teammates have embraced about him because they can see what it means to him. “He sometimes shows more emotion out there than he does during the games when he does something crazy,” Brown said. “That shows his passion.”

Quesarito Night got extra spicy. “I wish there was fighting (in basketball),” Nuggets guard/enforcer Bruce Brown said early Saturday evening after a 115-101 home loss to the Houston Rockets. “I wish we didn’t get fined.” “I definitely wanted to cross the line,” Rockets star Kevin Durant told a small group of reporters outside the visiting locker room at Ball Arena. “That’s basketball. That’s in between the lines. Ain’t no respect. Ain’t no love. Nothing. “If people don’t show love to me — they (the Nuggets) cross the line a lot with their physicality, you know what I’m saying?.”

MrBuckBuck: Kevin Durant responds to Bruce Brown saying he crossed the line: “I definitely wanted to cross the line. That’s basketball, ain’t no respect, ain’t no love… That’s part of the game. Some people can talk and play, some people can’t. I had to learn how to talk and play as a player. So, I think Bruce is probably learning the same thing. Q. What did you say? Durant: Nothing that should be talked to the media. He heard, he knows, he understood. I understood. We know what that is. We don't need to tell you about it. Q. And then the three that you hit that celebration down the sideline, just what was going through your mind there? Durant: I mean, somebody in the crowd was talking crazy at me right before that, and so you know everybody enjoyed it. Bruce and Tim Hardaway probably didn't enjoy it, but I enjoy it when we go back and forth, and that's basketball.

Bruce Brown: So after tonight, some words were said that's a little disrespectful. So well, I can't wait to see him next time. Q. What exactly was said? Brown: Next question. Q. So Bruce, to be clear, there was a line that was crossed from just being competitive tonight. Brown: As a man, there's certain things you don't say to another man. Q. Does a game like this get you excited for a playoff atmosphere? Brown: Of course. Of course. Walking off the court, I was asking when we going to play them again. I don't know when that is, but I can't wait. Q. To be clear, as far as whenever he said something that crossed the line, was it when or before you kind of stared him down after that bucket? Brown: He said it before to someone else and then he said it to me. So, it was before and after. I wish there was fighting. I wish we didn't get fined cuz would have had some fun.

The Nuggets and Rockets kicked it old-school Saturday, in that they wanted to kick the ever-loving crud out of each other. This one felt like a playoff game, right down to the make-up calls, dangling narratives, chest-bumping, mind games and trash talk. If the NBA’s TV types know what’s good for them, they’ll move Denver-Houston higher up the fight card. “As a man,” Brown, who finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, said of Durant, his new best friend, “there are certain things you don’t say to another man.” Both Brown and Durant admitted KD said those certain things anyway — right after Brucey B’s teardrop putback pulled the hosts to within 69-62 with 2:38 left in a listless third period.

Durant and Brown, who once played together with the Nets, really got into it after Brown's bucket pulled Denver to 69-62 in the third quarter. As officials and teammates separated them during a timeout, it appeared Durant told Brown, " You a bum! "
