Marc J. Spears on Kyrie Irving: I do think he'll be back on the roster. I know their owner is really, really high on seeing him and Cooper Flagg play together. And then Masai Ujiri had said in his introductory press conference that he wanted to see that as well.

Jon Krawczynski: But in the last week to 10 days, there have been more and more signs coming out of Dallas that Kyrie is going to stay there; that the Mavericks want Kyrie to play alongside Cooper Flagg; that Kyrie really enjoys being in Dallas; and that he wants to stay there. It did seem like he has found some kind of comfort and tranquility there, so that makes sense. So while I believe that, if the Wolves were going to trade for Kyrie Irving, yes, maybe it would be Julius Randle, a first-round pick, and something else to get Kyrie—versus needing eight different pieces to get Giannis—I just think that is looking more and more unlikely at this point. What exactly the Timberwolves do to address their ball handling is something we’ll have to see. But the Kyrie Irving steam has definitely been reduced by quite a bit, and at this point, I would be very surprised if a Kyrie Irving deal got done.

In Scheyer's case, for the record, indications are strong that he's not looking to leave Duke for the pros ... even if it would mean a reunion with Mavericks star Cooper Flagg. Mike Krzyzewski's hand-picked successor as Blue Devils coach just announced two additions to his staff earlier this week.

Since the 2023-24 season, Sotheby has worked with the league in hosting live NBA auctions (New York, Paris) and activations (Abu Dhabi). Sotheby’s sold Cooper Flagg’s debut jersey in February for a record-setting $1 million, which the league said eclipsed Victor Wembanyama’s previous record when his jersey sold for $762,000 in 2023. In March, Sotheby auctioned off various Scottie Pippen’s autographed memorabilia from the 1992 Olympics and from parts of his six NBA Finals appearances. The league said it drove over $6 million in revenue and attracted collectors from 32 different countries. The Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards also have collectible programs and official partnerships. As for the Cavaliers, their partnership with The Realest involves both organizations striving to achieve two goals. The first? “To make sure that a Cavs fan can own any piece of history,” Kaiser said. The second? “People can find an environment where they know it’s credible, it’s authenticated and it’s real,” Keeney said.

“Durant once told me that there’s only one Kyrie Irving walking around in the world,” Ujiri said most recently. “Yeah, I think we have to figure out a way how Kyrie fits with our program. I’ve had those conversations with Kyrie. I think Kyrie will fit. There’s a huge curiosity in our minds to see how Kyrie fits playing with Cooper Flagg. He’s just that kind of like an incredible talent and player. I think we owe this organization that.” Yet, Ujiri’s adjoining stance that Flagg and Irving can form an effective duo has left rival executives around the league wondering how long Irving, a nine-time All-Star who’s coming off a torn left ACL and just turned 34, can co-exist with Flagg when the two players are on different career timelines?

Notwithstanding, new Mavericks general manager Mike Schmitz echoed Ujiri’s sentiment and lauded the pairing of Cooper Flagg and Irving on paper when looking ahead to the upcoming season. “That’s something you dream of,” Schmitz said. “Having a magician with the ball like that who can pass, dribble, shoot, and someone with the connective qualities of Cooper. It’s a match made in Heaven.”

The Dallas Mavericks are remaking their franchise around young star Cooper Flagg, which naturally leads to questions about how Kyrie Irving fits into that mix. "Multiple contenders are keeping an eye on Irving right now," ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Wednesday's NBA Today (2:38 mark). "He's got a guaranteed year left on his deal and then he's got a player option, so that does give him some leverage on his future. He's 34 years old, he's a championship player in this league, but he's got a level of equity in Dallas. We know he's put a lot of equity into Flagg, his development this year. So [team president] Masai Ujiri has hinted, 'We want to see these two guys [together],' but what's the vision and how much can they show Irving that [they] want him to be a part of this?"

Abby Jones: Masai Ujiri speaks on the future of Kyrie Irving in Dallas after the departure of HC, Jason Kidd. “Kevin Durant once told me that there's only one Kyrie Irving walking around in the world. I think we have to figure out a way, how Kyrie fits with our program. I've had those conversations with Kyrie, up till yesterday and I think Kyrie will fit. There's a huge curiosity in our minds to see how Kyrie fits playing with Cooper Flagg … and I think we owe that to this organization.”

Abby Jones: Masai Ujiri states that the Dallas Mavericks are looking at the future of organization, building around Cooper Flagg. “Every decision we are going to make here is going to be future based. We are looking at the future. We have a 19-year-old on this team that can take us somewhere great. We have to think that way.”

The rumors are true. Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg is in a relationship with Duke University center Arianna Roberson. In a TikTok posted to her account on Thursday, May 14, Roberson, 20, and Flagg, 19, hold hands and embrace in a compilation of clips from their tropical vacation in the the Turks and Caicos Islands.
