Quentin Grimes: You have to stay ready and keep preparing yourself. I was in the gym every night—getting my shots, getting treatment, watching guys like Kyrie and Klay—how they take care of their bodies, how they get up extra shots before and after practice. How disciplined they are with their routines—that really focused me. It changed my mindset. I knew opportunities were going to come, and I had to be ready for them.
One of the first scouts I ran into was an old friend who works for the Mavericks and the first thing he told me was how high they were on Ryan Nembhard. And with 11.3 points and 8.7 assists per game through the first three games, it’s easy to see why.
Yet, while Celtics fans celebrated every half-court attempt, it would appear members of the Mavericks roster were growing frustrated. During a recent livestream with Jaylen Brown, former Celtics guard Kyrie Irving revealed that he’d considered throwing a punch at Pritchard during that series. “We were going to halftime,” Irving said. “I ain’t gonna lie to you, I thought about swinging. One time, just to see where he was at. I thought about swinging one time.”

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson made their red carpet debut Wednesday evening at her inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City. “I have never dated somebody so kind,” the rap superstar exclusively gushed to Page Six of her new romance, while on the red carpet. “This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy.” “I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”
You’re also known as a complete player. What went into building those habits? Kon Knueppel: “I used to not be able to shoot. I was a bad shooter. So in between my mid-range game, I was a playmaker. That was kind of my game. Shooting was the piece that I added on at the end. Obviously, now it kind of flipped a little bit because that’s valued so much more now. That’s kind of how that came to be.” Obviously, you and Cooper had such a great connection at Duke. What’s it going to be like now matching up against him? Knueppel: “It’ll be super fun. He’s going to have a whole lot of success. I’m super happy for him. It’ll be fun.”
Kevin Durant: Lemme set this noti. Kyrie Irving: lol I am gonna address this on my stream soon

One team linked to James — the Dallas Mavericks — does not have interest in gutting its roster to match James’ salary in a trade, a team source told The Athletic. And if there were a potentially better trade out there for the Lakers — one that would create cap flexibility while also addressing some of the team’s other needs — James has a full no-trade clause in his contract and could veto any deal that would send him somewhere he doesn’t want to go.
Tim MacMahon: But I'm just telling you, there were Mavericks coaches who were not happy with another trade that the team made and weren’t shy to let me know about it. None of the Mavericks coaches were upset about the Grimes-for-Martin trade. They didn’t really value Grimes long-term, which is a long-winded way of saying: if he’s getting something around the mid-level, I think that would be a good deal for him.

Marc Stein: Dallas' Dereck Lively II recently underwent a procedure on his right foot, @TheSteinLine has learned, followed by placement in a boot. This means three key Mavericks are in injury recovery: Kyrie Irving (knee), Anthony Davis (eye) and Lively. More NBA: tinyurl.com/mu56shew
Shams Charania: Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has undergone surgery to clean up bone spurs in his right foot, sources tell ESPN. He is expected to be healthy for training camp.
Kyrie Irving on Kobe Bryant: He had also a history already built in on his foundation of being Jelly Bean’s son. Yeah. You know, so his father already had history in the league and that helps. That's one of like being son of an NBA player and being able to be around the environment and early on, you know. Jaylen Brown: That's one of my biggest regrets in life, never got to meet Kobe. He did a detail on me in like 2018. Kyrie Irving: Did it surprised you that he did it? Jaylen Brown: It did. I was so hyped. I was so hyped.
