Dirk Nowitzki has developed a relationship with Cooper Flagg and says he remains available to the Dallas Mavericks’ young star whenever he needs advice. Nowitzki, who spent his entire 21-year NBA career with Dallas, said he has stayed in contact with Flagg and occasionally reaches out after watching him play. “We met a few times, and we’re obviously in contact. I write him a few things when I see something. So, he knows that I’m in his corner whenever I want him to succeed and do well. But like I said, he’s so far ahead of the curve already at that age. But if there’s ever anything that he needs, I’m more than happy to help.”
Marc Stein: Dwight Powell was with the Mavericks this week at the Kyrie Irving-led minicamp in Los Angeles and the expectation, league sources say, is that Powell will receive a formal training camp invite even though Dallas currently has a full roster with 15 standard NBA contracts.
The 2026 NBA Draft was a memorable one for the Wolverines. Now, Michigan basketball fans will get a chance to relive it through Basketball Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade's new YouTube documentary series, "The Call: Hoopers," that will include Morez Johnson Jr. and Aday Mara.
Episodes will be released weekly, and Johnson's episode is directed by Jess Speight, a former Michigan defensive lineman. The other four basketball players who will be profiled are Iowa's Bennett Stirtz, Texas Tech's Christian Anderson Jr., St. John's Zuby Ejiofor and Baylor's Cameron Carr.

They have courts and shops and restaurants, and it’s like a basketball hub in Melbourne. And I’m going to attend a Melbourne United versus Cairns Taipans game, and I’m going to be a part of the broadcast. And then I’m going to go to Manila, and in Manila, where Disney+ has the NBA rights. We’re going to do a bunch of promotion in Manila and have a podcast on October 5th with some guests at all these places. And then we’re going to go to Macau. There’s two games in Macau on the 9th and 11th, and on the 10th in between, we’re going to do a live event at the Venetian in Macau. So I’ll have guests from the Rockets and Mavericks and other NBA people on.
