Jason Beede: Breaking News: The #Magic have signed two-way forward Jamal Cain to a standard NBA contract, the @orlandosentinel.com has learned. Cain fills Orlando’s 15th standard roster spot and will now be eligible to play in the postseason. A well-earned deal for Cain who turned 27 on Friday.

Jason Beede: #Magic two-way players Jamal Cain and Orlando Robinson, along with team community ambassador Bo Outlaw and members of the 321 Hype Team, visited young patients at AdventHealth for Children on Friday. They made slime with the kids, shared jokes and handed out Magic goodies.

Oleh Kosel: Pelicans beat Magic 106-104 in preseason game #1. Jamal Cain and Malcolm Hill finished game well, combining to score 14 of Nola's final 15 points. Biggest positives: Zion Williamson in mid-season form (8/11 FG), Jordan Hawkins' aggressiveness (18 PTS) & Daniel Theis was solid.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Free agent guard Jamal Cain has agreed on a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, agents Shayaun Saee and Mike George tell ESPN.

Ira Winderman: Jamal Cain and Orlando Robinson are not on the Heat summer roster. Also not on the summer roster is Dru Smith, who was signed to a two-way contract this week but still is recovering from last season's major knee injury and unable to play.

Anthony Chiang: Heat not expected to extend qualifying offer to Jamal Cain, according to league sources. Without a QO, Cain will become an UFA on June 30. The expectation is Cain will not be back with Heat next season after spending the last two seasons as two-way player with Miami.

Q: Ira, you wrote that Cole Swider and Alondes Williams were going back for the G League playoffs. What happens for them after that? – Wes. A: They become ineligible for the NBA playoffs on their two-way contracts, are allowed to continue to practice and train with the Heat, and then become free agents in the offseason. It’s the same with Jamal Cain, the Heat’s other player from the three-player limit teams have with two-way contacts. The only way for Swider, Williams or Cain to be postseason eligible (including the play-in round), would be for the Heat to waive a player currently under contract on the 15-play standard roster, which currently stands at that 15-player limit. I can’t see them doing that with either Patty Mills or Delon Wright, considering the commitment the two made by taking buyouts elsewhere. And with the Heat having until July 15 to decide on the non-guaranteed 2024-25 season on the contract of Orlando Robinson, I doubt they move on from that flexibility. But if there are any such moves, they would have to be done by the Heat’s April 14 in order to create playoff eligibility.

Anthony Chiang: Jamal Cain has rejoined the Heat from the G League and will be available tonight in Detroit.

Tim Reynolds: Tyler Herro (foot) and Kevin Love (heel) are not traveling on the Dallas-OKC trip. Caleb Martin (left thumb sprain) is available and Patty Mills is on the trip with the Heat. Also -- all the G League guys are on the trip as well.

Ira Winderman: Caleb Martin (Left Thumb; Sprain) has been upgraded to available tonight for Heat vs. Pistons. Out are Tyler Herro (foot), Kevin Love (heel), Josh Richardson (shoulder), Alondes Williams (G League) and Jamal Cain (G League). With Dru Smith (knee) to be waived.
