Head coach Frederic Fauthoux has named a 16-player roster for the senior national team of France heading into the upcoming July window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, as revealed by the French Federation of Basketball on Friday. The star-studded training camp squad is highlighted by the returns of veterans Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier, alongside a strong NBA contingent featuring Bilal Coulibaly, Zaccharie Risacher, Alex Sarr, Guerschon Yabusele, and newcomer Maxime Raynaud. While France will be without Victor Wembanyama following his deep run in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google, Fauthoux balanced the roster with EuroLeague standouts Sylvain Francisco, Nadir Hifi, Jaylen Hoard, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Frank Ntilikina, Elie Okobo, and Matthew Strazel, who were also called up alongside window veterans Adam Mokoka and Amine Noua to ensure continuity.

Elijah Hoard, brother of Maccabi Tel Aviv forward Jaylen Hoard, has been missing since Friday, February 27, after being dropped off at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport by his father, Antwon Hoard. The 23-year-old was scheduled to return to France but never boarded his flight. Chicago police have launched a missing person investigation and are reviewing airport surveillance footage to trace his movements. Authorities have warned that Elijah may need medical attention and urged anyone with information to contact the Missing Persons Unit.

NBA players have also raised awareness. Nicolas Batum tweeted: “Elijah Hoard has been missing after being dropped by his father at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Friday. If you have any information, please contact the local authorities.” Guerschon Yabusele added: “Elijah Hoard has been missing since Friday evening in Chicago. He was supposed to catch a flight to France but never boarded. If you have any information, please notify his family or detectives at Area One SVU at 312-747-8380. Thank you“.
Guard Frank Ntilikina, forward Ousmane Dieng and forward Moussa Diabate were cut from the French national team roster ahead of the EuroBasket, the French Federation announced. The roster of France now has 14 players: Isaia Cordinier (Virtus Segafredo Bologna), Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards), Sylvain Francisco (Zalgiris), Nadir Hifi (Paris), Jaylen Hoard (Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv), Mouhammadou Jaiteh (Dubai), Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (Baskonia), Theo Maledon (Real Madrid), Elie Okobo (AS Monaco), Vincent Poirier (Anadolu Efes), Zaccharie Risacher (Atlanta Hawks), Alex Sarr (Washington Wizards), Matthew Strazel (AS Monaco) and captain Guerschon Yabusele (New York Knicks).

Hapoel Tel Aviv is targeting former Boston Celtics forward Justin Jackson, according to Walla Sport. Jackson, 278 games in 6 NBA seasons, would help the team during Jaylen Hoard’s absence due to injury. The UNC product owns career-averages of 6 points and 2.4 rebounds.

On the heels of the strong finish to the 2021-22 NBA Regular Season, Jaylen Hoard officially moved his talents to Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv on Sunday. Back from six years in the USA, the newcomer signed a training-camp deal, the team announced. The contract is not fully guaranteed. Instead includes a team option for the rest of the season at the end of the training camp and before the launch of the next editions of the 7DAYS EuroCup and Israel’s domestic competitions.
