Kawhi Leonard scored 31 points before leaving with a sprained left ankle for the Clippers, whose four-game winning streak was stopped. It was Leonard’s 45th consecutive game with at least 20 points, topping Bob McAdoo’s franchise record set during the 1974-75 season when the team was based in Buffalo. Leonard was injured with 9:27 left in the fourth quarter when he was guarding DeRozan and landed awkwardly before backpedaling a few steps and tumbling to the court. He popped up quickly, but limped noticeably to the Clippers’ bench before heading to the locker room. Leonard didn’t return to the game and there was no immediate word on whether he might miss time.

APHoops: Don’t know how much Kawhi cares about this, but he can only miss 3 more games before becoming ineligible for NBA awards/honors. Might be good for his status on a potential return. Might be bad if he rushes back.

Joey Linn: Bennedict Mathurin says he wants to be the best two-way player in the NBA. “I think my defense has been better. But I want more. I wanna be gritty. I don’t know how long I’ll get to be around these guys. I want to learn as much as I can. I ask KD a lot of questions. DJ and Kawhi. Things they see differently that I may not be able to see. I’m blessed, man. I’m grateful for sure… That two-way saying, it’s not something I’m just saying to be out there. I really wanna be one of the best — I wanna be the best two-way in the NBA. So you gotta start somewhere to get somewhere.” He’s asked Jeff Van Gundy to be hard on him so he can improve defensively.

Justin Russo: Kawhi Leonard has the longest streak of 20-point games by a player aged 30 or older in NBA history. Leonard has done it for 44 straight games. The previous record was held by John Havlicek (40 games).
