Scotty Pippen Jr: “Yeah, you know, so um I've been dealing with toe pain the last few years and you know, they've been telling me it was turf toe, turf toe. Um but you know, I went to meet a doctor and he basically told me I had fractured a bone in my toe, my big toe. Um and that it was very brittle. So basically they had to remove the bone out of my big toe and then reattached the ligaments. Um so I've been going through that process now. The time table is around like 3 to four months. Um but you know, I'm making steps in the right direction.”

Shams Charania: The Memphis Grizzlies are planning to sign center Charles Bassey via hardship exception, sources tell ESPN. Grizzlies currently have Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke and Zach Edey sidelined for extended periods, clearing way for a 10-day hardship signing.

Bobby Marks: Memphis will be the first team to qualify for a Disabled Player Exception. 4 players (Pippen Jr., Jerome, Clarke, Edey) will have to miss 3 consecutive regular season games for the 10-Day exception to be granted.

Fantasy basketball players searching for a breakout NBAer in 2025-26, look no further ... Scotty Pippen Jr. just guaranteed to TMZ Sports "this year is going to be big for me!" The Grizzlies guard -- who's the son of Scottie Pippen -- chopped it up with us out at LAX this week ... and he made it clear, his third season in the NBA will be his best. He told us he's been training out in Los Angeles ... and while there's still a few months left until Memphis' first game, he's "confident." "I feel good this year going into it," he told us. "I feel like the end of last year a lot of people saw me take another step in my career. So, this year is going to be big for me."

"I feel like that's been the story of the last couple years in Memphis," he said. "I feel like that's been the story of my career. So I think they're definitely sleeping on us." In the midst of gearing up for arguably the biggest season of his life, Pippen Jr. has been giving back ... recently hosting a free youth basketball camp in Tennessee that he said was "dope." "I always grew up going to basketball camp," Pippen Jr. said. "So it felt good to go back and, you know, give back to Memphis."

"So coming up and sort of growing up, was that difficult? Like how were you able to sort of find your own lane and stick to that?" Scotty Pippen Jr: "Yeah, I think it's difficult just because people just put, you know, a perspective on you on how they think you move and how they think you act just because of your dad. You know, I feel like we're seeing it with Deion Sanders and his son and then, you know, LeBron and Bronnie. Um, for me, I feel like it was tough just because I feel like I wasn't given fair treatment. People kind of just overlooked me because of my dad. I feel like the name might have hurt me more than it helped me sometimes, and it's unfair for us, but at the end of the day, I feel like we're all — the three, you know, kids you named — are doing well."

Scotty Pippen Jr: Like I said, I've never seen, like, you know, that era of play. So, for me to say MJ — growing up, I always said MJ. So for me to say MJ, it's just kind of on nostalgia. I've never really seen him play, so I feel like I'm not giving fair judgment to the conversation. And then for LeBron, that's someone I play with. So I've seen him. I've grown up watching him. But also, I was a Kobe fan. I loved Kobe growing up. So I would say all three of those are my GOATs: Kobe, LeBron, and MJ."

You've got a new coach for the final nine, ten days of the season. Has there been any word? Is he expected to be the permanent coach when we start things off next season?" Scotty Pippen Jr: "I've been told it's still up in the air, so I'm not sure. I don't want to speak too much about it, but you know, if he's the guy, I definitely liked him a lot. He was great for me. He took over the job kind of in a hard spot, but when he got the job, I feel like my confidence went through the roof. My minutes started going up. I feel like I was more consistent with him taking the job. So, you know, hopefully he's the guy, but I haven't been told clearly if they made a decision yet."
