Chris Fedor: ‘There's another move coming for the Cavs at some point because they are hard capped by the first apron after the sign and trade that they made with Denver for Watson. I'm told that Harden's starting salary in year one is going to be around 30.5 million dollars. So the Cavs have had conversations about the possibility of a waive and stretch for Cam Whitmore. Whitmore being somebody that they acquired in that mega five-team deal that also included Trey Mann going to the Washington Wizards, Dennis Schroeder going to the Charlotte Hornets, and Cam Whitmore and his salary savings coming to the Cavs. They have had conversations internally about the possibility of waving and stretching Whitmore and not having him on this roster.’
Shams Charania: As part of the deal, the Cavaliers are sending Tre Mann, the 2027 second-rounder from the Clippers and cash to the Washington Wizards for Cam Whitmore, sources said. The Wizards also are sending Julian Reese to the Nuggets, who will waive Reese off his two-way deal. Mann fills a positional need as the Wizards have searched for an additional guard in recent weeks -- while the Cavaliers gain a smaller salary in Whitmore to create optionality under the first apron.

Yossi Gozlan: Cleveland Cavaliers salary cap situation with Peyton Watson. They could create a $16.7 million trade exception for Max Strus if they fold in the Dennis Schroder trade and absorb Tre Mann into the Lonzo Ball trade exception. The Cavs have no first-round picks left to trade.
While sources say the Schröder deal is not specifically a prelude to another imminent move — either for Jonathan Kuminga or Peyton Watson, both of whom the Cavs remain interested in — it provides the kind of financial flexibility and optionality to help in that sign-and-trade pursuit.

Shams Charania: Just in: The Cleveland Cavaliers are trading Dennis Schroeder and cash to the Charlotte Hornets for Tre Mann, sources tell ESPN.
Shams Charania: Charlotte picks up an established veteran at point guard who has history with Hornets president Jeff Peterson and coach Charles Lee from his tenure in Atlanta at the start of his career. The Hornets, Cavaliers and Schroder's rep Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports worked for the last couple months on the deal -- which also provides Cleveland with flexibility to continue pursuing roster moves and tax savings to keep them well under the second apron.
