Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro weighed in on the upcoming draft. As captured by Crossing Broad’s Kyle Pagan, Shapiro has concerns about the 76ers potentially picking Bailey at No. 3. "I am worried about that. If you're not coming to work out, then you've got something wrong here," Shapiro said. "I've already sent a message about that… He's got great talent, great upside, but if you don't want to be here, if you're not dying to be here, I don't want you to be here.”

Shams Charania: The Philadelphia 76ers are promoting Jameer Nelson to assistant general manager, sources tell ESPN. The 14-year NBA veteran and one-time All-Star is a Pennsylvania native and has served a scout and G League GM for the 76ers since 2020.
A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty Wednesday in a sports betting scheme that ended Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter's NBA career. With Mahmud Mollah 's plea Wednesday, three people — including Porter — have now publicly admitted their roles in the scandal. It worked like this: The player withdrew early from games so that tipped-off gamblers could win wagers that he would score fewer points than sportsbooks expected.

Stanley "Whitey" Von Nieda, the first former NBA player to become a centenarian, died on Wednesday at 101 years old. News of Von Nieda's passing, which occurred in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, was confirmed by the league on Friday. In June of 2022, he was honored by the National Basketball Retired Players Association for becoming the first former player to live to 100.
James Harden passes Michael Jordan on free-throws made
On Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are hosting the Portland Trail Blazers in Pennsylvania. During the game, James Harden made NBA history, as he has now moved to sixth on the all-time free throws list. Harden came into the night with 7,323 made free throws and needed only five to pass Hall of Famer Michael Jordan (7,327).
The Bakken Bears secured the services of 2016 Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball Tony Carr, the team announced Friday. Carr, 24, was selected 51st overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2018 NBA draft but has yet to play in the NBA, apart from a couple of Summer League campaigns. The Penn State product carries European experience including nine 7DAYS EuroCup appearances with Fiat Torino in his first pro season, 2018-19. Similar to fellow summer signing and veteran of 19 NBA games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Deng Adel, he will join Denmark’s Basketligaen champions in August, following the conclusion of the 2022 CEBL season in Canada.

Cavaliers honor LeBron James after moving to No. 2 in all-time scoring list
