Toronto Star Sports: Raptors win 122-92 in a blowout against the Dallas Mavericks. RJ Barrett drops a season-high 31 points while also reaching the 8,000 NBA career points milestone, becoming the eighth Canadian to do so in NBA history.
Chris Hine: Couple things from Anthony Edwards tonight. Asked him what the adrenaline rush is like after a dunk like the one he had on RJ Barrett. “I’m ready to get a tech.”

It puts RJ Barrett on shaky ground in Toronto. “Can we perfectly time this, where every year we have a $25 million expiring (contract)? No,” Raptors general manager Bobby Webster told The Athletic earlier this month when asked about the franchise’s flexibility. “That was maybe the one we didn’t have this year.” Webster was not speaking about Barrett when he said that. However, it was clear at the trade deadline that teams don’t see value in taking on long-term contracts such as the ones Immanuel Quickley and Poeltl have, even if Quickley is quietly making his look better. Ingram’s contract could be expiring next year, but he has a $41.9 million player option for 2027-28. Barrett is owed $29.6 million next year and then will become an unrestricted free agent. His contract would go a long way toward helping the Raptors upgrade, given that most trades in the NBA require approximately the same amount of annual salary switching sides.

Fan590: “I’ve consistently heard that the Kings really like RJ Barrett.” @TheSteinLine joins @BlakeMurphyODC and @mattbonner_15 to discuss potential trade-deadline moves involving the Raptors.
Jon Krawczynski: Anthony Edwards after his airball 3 was jeered: "I know RJ Barrett was gonna go left so I cut him off and made a good play on the ball and got a steal and dunked it and told them keep coming. Then I hit another shot and they didn’t wanna boo me no more. That’s how it usually go."

Michael Scotto: Domantas Sabonis trade talks between the Kings and Raptors, which would include RJ Barrett and Ochai Agbaji to Sacramento, have paused. Toronto is concerned about giving up too much first-round draft pick compensation to move Jakob Poeltl to a third team. Reporting on @YESNetwork

But the information has been all over the place. Just the other day, one source with a Western Conference team shared that he’s heard the Kings were exploring a trade with the Raptors featuring Poeltl and RJ Barrett, and within hours texted back to say that the Kings weren’t going to move the big Lithuanian centre.

Sam Amick: “RJ (Barrett) is definitely of interest to the Kings. The obstacle, like I wrote, is Jakob Poeltl. It’s an absolute non-starter for Sacramento—they’re not taking him on. He has a lot of money left; I think it’s around $103 million. So if you see Poeltl move somewhere else before the deadline—which is unlikely—that’s the only way this becomes more realistic. And honestly, I forgot to write this part: his back issues have kept him off the floor lately, which is another thing to monitor.”

Anthony Slater on Domantas Sabonis: The Toronto interest is real from what I understand. RJ Barrett almost matches the salary. I think RJ Barrett's around like 29 or so. He's the big chunk going back. He's only under contract for one more season after this whereas Sabonis is two beyond that. That is some salary relief for the Kings.
