In reference to Minnesota's interest in White, which The Athletic's Sam Amick first reported Friday morning, trading him for Rudy Gobert would represent a clear salary match. Sources say that Boston, furthermore, has inquired about Gobert before ... most recently at February's trade deadline.
Lou Williams: I’m going to throw some names out there and you give me your guess on where they'll be next year. All right? Sam Amick: Yes, sir. Williams: Let's start with Ja Morant. Amick: Ja Morant, I mean, the only two teams I've heard and I'll pick one of them is New Orleans and Sacramento, so I'll probably push it to New Orleans way. Chandler Parsons: I'm going to throw Minnesota out there just for fun. Chandler Parsons: I'm going to throw Minnesota out there just for fun. Amick: Yeah, that one's in there, too. Good call, Chandler.

Including DiVincenzo in the trade crushed Rose, team sources said. Rose loved the way DiVincenzo, the fourth Villanova Knick, played and understood how losing him would affect personal relationships on the team. But Minnesota wouldn't do the trade without him, and Rose believed Towns would be a perfect complement for Brunson's skill set. Rose took no public questions on the trade, but he called DiVincenzo to inform the guard of the trade, according to sources on both sides of the transaction.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, are also seen by some as an emerging option for the Bucks. While Antetokounmpo is known to prefer a trade involving a team in the Eastern Conference, league sources say the Bucks are interested in what Minnesota has to offer. If the Timberwolves want to get into the mix, league sources say the Bucks would want a package including Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, Terrence Shannon Jr. and their two tradable first-round picks (No. 29 in this year’s draft and their 2033 pick). Yet considering McDaniels’ immense value alongside Edwards as an elite perimeter defender, as well as his impressive postseason performance, team sources say Minnesota has indicated that McDaniels is off limits. Per those sources, the same goes for 19-year-old big man Joan Beringer.
Yet the more realistic outcome for Dallas remains hiring someone from within the NBA and, to that end, sources say that the Mavericks have either already registered official interest or plan to do so with a number of prominent assistant coaches. Those include Minnesota's Micah Nori, Houston's Royal Ivey, Toronto's Jama Mahlalela, Boston's Tony Dobbins and Miami consultant Noah LaRoche.
Sources tell The Stein Line that three of the five finalists we identified last week remain under consideration for the full-time post in Portland: Minnesota's Nori, Boston's Tyler Lashbrook and Blazers acting coach Tiago Splitter. The other finalists who, according to sources, did not advance: The Clippers' Van Gundy and Utah's Mike Williams.
Thus far, external candidates, including Cleveland’s Mike Gansey, Minnesota’s Matt Lloyd, and Phoenix Mercury general manager Nick U'Ren, have emerged. Internally, 76ers assistant general manager Jameer Nelson has also positioned himself well to remain with the organization and be in the mix for a possible promotion, league sources told HoopsHype.
Marc Stein: Minnesota's Micah Nori is also a finalist for the Portland coaching vacancy, @TheSteinLine has learned. Nori, Blazers interim coach Tiago Splitter and LA Clippers assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy are the known finalists.

Shams Charania: "Minnesota, the Lakers, the Celtics, the Heat, the Knicks, those are all the teams that had interest in Giannis at the deadline. There were conversations, some teams more than other teams. You think about teams like Miami and Minnesota, those were more extensive conversations. Those were more back-and-forth engagement conversations. Then you have teams like Cleveland and the Lakers and the Celtics that checked and the Knicks that checked in, that had interest. There were some conversations on concepts, but the Celtics did check in, they did make a call, they did have a level of interest and I think that is going to continue into this off season. But they've never gotten into the particulars because it takes two to tango. You're not just going to offer up a player that it might take to get a deal done without there being interest from the other side. So those are all things to be determined."
League sources tell The Stein Line that the Blazers, meanwhile, have expressed interest in Minnesota assistant coach Micah Nori in addition to previously reported candidates Jared Dudley (Denver) and Hetzel … while Portland-based Sean Highkin reported recently that Lakers assistant coach Greg St. Jean is also on Portland's list

Andrew Dukowitz: Ayo Dosunmu on finishing the season with the Wolves and what is next for him being a free agent “The main thing that I really appreciated coming to Minnesota was how they accepted me. Coming in at the trade deadline, they accepted me right away. The fans are amazing, the environment is amazing. I love it. Being my first time being traded, I think they took me in with open arms. So I’m excited. Of course, I’m excited also for free agency. Because being in the league for five years, this is my first time being able to go through free agency unrestricted, I’m looking forward to that. But at the same time, my time here, these two to three months in Minnesota has been great. I’m excited for the future.”
