VP candidate Tim Walz on Dwyane Wade's statue: This is pretty horrific

Gov. Tim Walz – the Democratic candidate for vice president – shared his take on Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade’s statue, which was unveiled to the public on Sunday. “How gracious was D-Wade though, about this, to the sculptor?” Walz said. “Because this is pretty horrific.” Walz continued. “It’s horrific, but D-Wade, what a class act,” Walz said. “He’s like, ‘No, this is really nice. I’m grateful.’ Yeah, I don’t know how they get that wrong.”

I know they’re saying that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz need to do more interviews but, honestly, I’m not sure this is what anyone had in mind.  Harris is apparently doing the “All the Smoke” podcast. No, you are not mistaken. This is the NBA podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.  Yes, those two dive into topics outside of the NBA sometimes. But, uh, I’m not sure anyone thought they’d ever be going this outside the NBA. Harris recorded the podcast at some point on Tuesday with the two former Warriors players.

Steph Curry shows his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr wasn’t the only member of his organization who appealed to the 2024 Democratic National Convention this week. Warriors superstar Steph Curry made a virtual appearance on Thursday to show his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election for the DNCs final night, sporting his 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal in the video. Curry compared the unity that it took for Team USA basketball to bring home the gold to the unity he feels Harris will bring to the country. “This is about preserving hope and belief in our country,” Curry said in his remarks supporting Harris’ candidacy for president. “In the words of Michelle Obama, do something! Go vote. Be active. Let’s show out in November like never before.”

On Wednesday, ahead of the Timberwolves' first Western conference finals appearance in 20 years, their plan came to fruition. Walz declared it "Wolves Back Day," posting an official proclamation to X in which the first letter of each graph spelled, "Bring Ya Ass." Walz also briefly tweaked his X profile to feature "bringyaass.com," a humorous re-direct to his state's tourism site. It's not typical verbiage for the 60-year-old who has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019, but he wanted to fully embrace this moment. "We live in a place where we walk on water half the year because it's frozen," Walz told FOX Sports. "We're tough folks. But it has been a while. When [Edwards] said that, it felt like it just lit us all up."

Now, Minnesotans are finally feeling as though their luck is going to change. The Timberwolves came back from a 20-point deficit Sunday, the largest in Game 7 history. And they did it against a Nuggets team that was widely expected to compete for its second-straight title. For Walz, it was a giant sigh of relief. "As a Minnesotan, it seemed like it was the typical script," Walz told FOX Sports. "We get to Game 7 and can't pull it off — and then the magic started to happen."
