Then again, the Celtics’ desperation level simply isn’t at the level of the Heat’s. By all accounts, Boston could forge ahead with the Brown-Jayson Tatum dynamic duo and look for other ways to upgrade the frontcourt. To that end, league sources say the Celtics are among the many teams with interest in the New Orleans Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III (if they don’t land Antetokounmpo).

Kevin O'Connor says Warriors still covet Kawhi Leonard: [Anthony] Slater goes on to write how 'Trey Murphy is the more obtainable wing for the Warriors to target.' He said 'The Pelicans have clung tightly to Trey Murphy, but league sources tell Slater that New Orleans has been signaling a desire to jump into the first round of the draft.' That last line is 150% true. The Pelicans are trying to get a pick in the top 20. The Warriors are definitely a team that we could see trade the number 11 pick to New Orleans for Trey Murphy. All that said though Tom, I do think the Warriors still want Kawhi Leonard. I still think the Warriors are still going for Kawhi Leonard. The Warriors still want Kawhi. Trey Murphy, as Anthony Slater says, seems to be just the more obtainable guy, but I don't think this Warriors' love for Kawhi Leonard has declined at all.

The Pelicans are known to "want a lot" for Trey Murphy, as one interested team told The Stein Line last week, but they will at least listen. The Pelicans, furthermore, are also known to be very interested in acquiring a lottery pick for next week's festivities. New Orleans, at present, only holds No. 58 at the end of next Wednesday's second round.

New Orleans Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III could be more obtainable in this transaction cycle, league sources said. Murphy is a player the Warriors front office has circled for years as a prime wing who fits a need, the Kerr system and, at 25, accomplishes the goal of getting younger. The Pelicans have clung to him tightly, but league sources said New Orleans has been signaling a desire to jump into the first round of next week's draft. The Warriors have the 11th pick and control of their future firsts.

External trade interest in New Orleans' Trey Murphy III remains intense, league sources say. Yet I was told this week that the inquiries have all been of an inbound nature. League sources say that the Pelicans have not offered Murphy anywhere and that this is the first time their new front office regime headed by Joe Dumars has been truly willing to field offers for Murphy. As one team interested in Murphy put it to me this week: "They want a lot." Two teams known to have expressed interest in the 25-year-old sharpshooter, I'm told, are Detroit and Indiana.

Jake Fischer revealed the latest revelation around the highly sought Pelicans wing on his Tuesday Bleacher Report livestream. "Trey Murphy’s still going to be a name that we’re going to talk about and write about on the Stein Line, because other teams absolutely want him. The New Orleans Pelicans, though, of course, shut down pretty much all interest in him in February, and they didn’t really want a picks-laden package," Fischer bared. "I think if the Pelicans were to move Trey Murphy III, it would be for more of a buy-now, get-better type of acquisition."

Garland Gillen: Bill Simmons on the Pelicans trading Trey Murphy: “We assume he’s probably going to get traded over the next three weeks. I think Boston is a possibility. We thought whoever lost this matchup (Spurs and Thunder) is a possibility. You have two to three weeks to trade for someone like that.”

As well as building out his front office and finding that Lewin type, Graham has a coaching search to conduct as well as an NBA Draft to prepare for. The lottery is on Sunday, and the Bulls currently sit at Nos. 9 and 15 in the first round. Talent evaluation has been a strength for Graham, credited for the likes of Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III while he was in New Orleans, but also showing an ability to get off of players from a cap standpoint, moving Trae Young while Graham was in Atlanta last season. The good news for the 39-year-old? Besides multiple first-round picks in a loaded 2026 class, he’ll have a league-high $58 million in cap space this summer.

The Pelicans have listed Dejounte Murray (left hand contusion) as questionable for Sunday's game against Orlando. Karlo Matkovic (low back spasms) and Trey Murphy (right ankle sprain) are also questionable.

Pelicans PR: Injury Update: 3.29 vs Houston: Dejounte Murray (Left Hand Contusion) is AVAILABLE, Trey Murphy (Right Ankle Sprain) is OUT
Justin Russo: Random factoid: Trey Murphy III is 3 dunks away from being the third player this season to log at least 100 dunks and 100 made 3s. The two who have done it so far are Victor Wembanyama and OG Anunoby. Murphy would be the only player this season to get to 100 dunks and 200 3s.
