NBABase: Former Celtic Evan Turner shuts down the idea that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were never friends “The thing of them saying they were never really friends is crazy because I know for sure they had the utmost respect for each other. Like when you at least when I was around, when you walk in, when they look around, I've watched JT walk up to JB and shake his hand. I watched JT the vice versa... There's no real beef here. There's no real foundational beef that I thought and like no structural beef. It's just two alphas walking on a different path, you know what I mean, in the same Serengeti.” (Via @SInow)

“I think he still has more in the tank,” Turner continued to say of James. “You look at the starting five. I don’t see him slowing down. Who’s better? I mean, who’s better? It’s almost like the Stefon Diggs thing. If I’m not the better one, who’s a better number two than me that’s just elite? I think Jalen Williams from OKC is one of the best top 15 players in the world, and I would throw ‘Bron up against him any night. Jalen Williams is elite. LeBron has got five or 10 more years the same way with Kevin Durant. They’re like, ‘Where am I going?’ There’s nothing else to do. This shit is easy.”

“They have to play chess, not checkers, and make sure guys are available for that playoff run,” Turner said. “You look at Joel Embiid. I would only like to see him play 55 games a year, and maybe if we’re lucky, play 55 games and maybe play 28 minutes or less. You understand what I’m saying? Limit his minutes, but making sure the team knows how to play with him on the floor, no matter what. I think last playoff series when he played against the Celtics and he balled out, but it came out of way of the lack of preparation and playing and chemistry with the team because he was hurt so much. “I think this year when you’re going into those deep playoff runs, you’re trying to be a championship team, you have to be connected and know the nuances of who to work with, what will work, and know your go-to’s towards the end,” Turner continued. “I just want to make sure those guys are able to be healthy and able to be connected because there’s a lot of great teams out there, and the Knicks are working on something that’s been going on for years now.”

Anfernee Simons: "My mindset going into the game is I've already competed at a high level with starters, and it's going to be even easier for me when I come into the game playing against second units. There's a lot of guys that helped me along the way, whether it was Norm Powell, CJ McCollum, those guys that didn't necessarily come into the league starting. Damian Lillard came into the league and immediately he was a starter and he became an All-Star pretty quickly. But for guys like that, they had to work their way up. At an early age, I kind of gravitated to them as well because I was in the same position where I might have a lot of potential coming in, I might not be playing, I might be a couple years out from really contributing. Rodney Hood, Evan Turner, those guys helped me understand what it took to be a real role player. They always felt like you're a starter, but for right now, until you become that, you need to learn how to be able to play a role and do it well."
Q. Describe what really happened during your practice fight with Evan Turner. Lance Stephenson: Oh my god. So, we getting ready for practice and we running through D-Wade's plays and so we take turns. So he D-Wade, and I'm D-Wade. So Bynum is on the on the sideline like, "Nah, Lance ain't playing like D-Wade. Lance is really playing like Lance. He killing you!” So Evan started playing like hard defense, and we know we’re getting ready for the game. We ain't trying to get hurt. I'm trying to stay sharp cuz I'm starting. So I'm getting ready for D-Wade, he is a big problem. So we’re getting like a little pushing match and I'm like, ‘All right, chill.’ I ain't want no scatter. You know, once New York dude gets tight, it's hard to stop him, right? It's hard. So he went like, ‘Yo, don’t, like he tried to touch me like, one of these joints.’ I went Undertaker… Slam (Stephenson makes gesture of grabbing someone from the neck and throwing him to the floor). I went crazy. Q: Most fights I see in the city, they start that way.

Evan Turner, who played in the NBA from 2010 to 2020, has defeated his former agent, David Falk, in a breach of contract dispute decided by a Delaware judge last Friday. Delaware Superior Court Judge Patricia A. Winston granted Turner’s motion for summary judgment in a case that turned on whether Turner had to pay Falk a share of proceeds from his sale of stock from an endorsement deal with Chinese shoe company Li-Ning.
Winston explained that stock vesting is when compensation to Turner for his services to Li-Ning actually occurred. “Upon vesting,” the judge wrote, “Turner received the Stock as payment for his efforts encouraging people to buy Li-Ning shoes.” In contrast, money that Turner received from selling stock was “not due to any marketing efforts,” Winston wrote. She also noted that “party intentionally sitting on its contractual rights does not toll the statute of limitations,” meaning that a failure to sue is not a justification to extend the period for suing.
What’s one way to make a late-season, injury-ravaged matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz more intriguing? Call up Evan Turner, of course! The former Blazers forward will serve as the TV analyst for the Trail Blazers’ broadcast of Wednesday’s road matchup against the Jazz, the organization announced. Turner will fill in for Lamar Hurd for the game and work alongside usual Portland play-by-play man Kevin Calabro.
