Memphis finished strong and closed out a 137-128 win in FedExForum. The win snaps the Grizzlies’ season-long six-game losing streak. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies (19-28) with 30 points. The recent addition of Ty Jerome has paid off. Jerome finished with 19 points and eight assists in 20 minutes. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves (32-19) with 39 points.

Memphis, much like Houston, is also in the process of learning a new system, but Morant’s body language, which was lacking at a somber morning shootaround, was off all evening. Outside of a mini briefing midway through the fourth quarter with the game already out of reach, Morant didn’t speak to Iisalo. During timeouts, Morant would be off to himself at either end of the bench, swimming in his own thoughts. There were no reassuring handshakes or taps from Iisalo whenever Morant was subbed out, the tension palpable within Fedex Forum.

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. both had inefficient offensive nights. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jaylen Wells didn't offer much help on the offensive end. Against a team like the Houston Rockets, that won't be enough. The Grizzlies fell behind early and lost 124-109 at FedExForum. Morant finished with 17 points on 6-for-19 shooting. Jackson scored nine points on 2-for-6 shooting. Cam Spencer led the Grizzlies (3-6) with 19 points.

The City of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies have a plan for spending $550 million on renovations to FedExForum and an understanding of a long-term agreement to keep the team in Memphis beyond the 2028-29 NBA season, according to public records and multiple people familiar with the matter.

Ja Morant's return to the starting lineup was met with a strong ovation from the FedExForum crowd before Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Memphis Grizzlies' star was back, and his return came right on time. At least it felt that way, with Jaren Jackson Jr. being out with an ankle injury. But after the Grizzlies lost 120-103 to the Thunder, Morant admitted that he may have sped up his return. "Terrible," Morant said on returning against the Thunder. "I should have been out. But I was out there. Regardless of out, in — there's going to be something said."

Ja Morant's memory is precise when it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers. He remembers the feeling of being put out by the Lakers in the 2023 playoffs, and he remembers standing on the bench injured last season while LeBron James through down a windmill dunk. All of that factored into the edge Morant played with in the Grizzlies' 131-114 victory on Wednesday night at FedExForum. "I don't like them," Morant said of the Lakers. Morant pulled out the "too little" gesture after scoring over Gabe Vincent in the second quarter. Seconds later, James returned the favor after using his strength to knock Morant to the floor and score over the smaller guard.

The Milwaukee Bucks were blown out by the Memphis Grizzlies, 122-99, in FedExForum on Thursday. “Losing, it is frustrating,” said Giannis Antetokounmpo after a fourth straight loss in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, “My dad used to say why whine if you are not going to give up. I am not going to give up.”
