Over the last six weeks of the regular season, though, Melton was up and down. He had some solid offensive nights, but in other games, he would fail to make an impact and continued to struggle finishing at the rim. While the Warriors have interest in a Melton return, according to a team source, much like Porziņģis, it will be interesting to see where — and how much — the other offers come from.

Anthony Slater: Kristaps Porzingis will sit tomorrow night vs the Spurs. Hasn’t been cleared for both sides of back-to-backs yet. De’Anthony Melton out with a thumb strain. Gui Santos and Gary Payton II questionable. Warriors face Cavaliers on Thursday.

And for veteran guard De'Anthony Melton, that could potentially be the final time he wears a Warriors uniform. The 27-year-old, who turns 28 in May, has a player option on his contract, and after posting a career-high 13.0 points in just under 23 minutes of play per game, it wouldn’t seem like much of a surprise. Melton spoke with 95.7’s "Steiny and Guru" on Thursday afternoon and discussed the potential offseason decision. “I’ve been in this league a decent amount of time,” Melton said. “So, eight years is a lot of time. I’ve put in a lot of time and effort and work into this. I think that should be rewarded and I think, for anybody, you put in that much time, effort, work and you’ve seen the results and you’ve seen how impactful you are and what you have done, like I said, you want to be rewarded for that. So, whatever comes with it, comes with it, but end of the day you want to get rewarded for your services.”

Defenses have thrown everything at Flagg, but he embraces the challenge. With Kyrie Irving out for the season as he recovers from ACL surgery, Flagg is frequently drawing the opposing team’s top on-ball defender, while also being a focal point of the team’s help defense and scheme. Whether he’s being blitzed or the defense switches and loads up in the gaps with early help, he’s learning how to navigate it. “He’s playing really well. He’s a big, physical player who competes hard,” Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton said. “When he attacks the rim, he’s getting there. He’s got a solid mid‑range game and can score at all three levels. I really respect his competitive nature and overall skill set.”

Anthony Slater: Kristaps Porzingis is out tonight in Atlanta with lower back tightness. Jonathan Kuminga is off the injury report and cleared to face the Warriors. Questionable: Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, Quinten Post.

“I look around, and I’m just like, ‘OK, this might be the time I have to say something,’ you know what I mean,” Melton said Tuesday on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” show. “I’m one of the guys that’s a little older than most at this point, which is crazy to even say. But I just use my basketball knowledge to express how I feel about the game or what’s going on out there. I feel like I have a very good basketball mind and very high IQ, so I just try to relay that to the rest of the team and go see what’s going on.”

Nick Friedell: Kerr is hopeful Draymond Green will play tomorrow vs. Wizards. Kristaps Porzingis and De’Anthony Melton are expected to play in DC as well. Steph Curry is on this trip. Kerr says he continues to trend in the right direction — still just doing individual work though.

Anthony Slater: It’s a calf strain for Al Horford and an adductor strain for Seth Curry. Both out against Knicks. Warriors will be depleted to open road trip in NY. Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis and De’Anthony Melton all sitting on front side of back-to-back (at Wizards the next night).
Anthony Slater: Kristaps Porzingis is cleared for a fourth game with the Warriors tomorrow night against the Timberwolves. De’Anthony Melton is questionable. Moses Moody is out.
