Joseph Dycus: During today's Warriors press conference, Steve Kerr mentioned February as when Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody will be back. He later clarified: "No idea. I’m just throwing February out there because that’s about a year post-injury. So it’ll be somewhere around that time."

Anthony Slater: Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody have progressed to "very light on-court activities," per Warriors, to open training camp. Both wings will remain in that stage (individual work/rehab) for a chunk of time to open the season.

Stephen Curry took a measured approach when discussing the future in a recent interview with The Athletic during teammate Moses Moody’s charity event in North Little Rock, Ark. “The through line,” Curry told The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II, “which is hard on anybody in this situation, especially with us keeping this thing together, is knowing that when Jimmy (Butler) got hurt and Moses got hurt, the whole calculus of everything changes. How do you get through their absence and still stay at a certain level? And then how that goes into this year. It’s the same deal. So, I’m a realist on that.”

Moses Moody looked like he was itching to join the campers in ballhandling drills, but opted to simply be a passer. “He’s committed to the work,” Curry said. “He’s not fighting it.” Moody has been rehabbing in the Bay Area. He’s targeting September to resume running and returning to on-court work. Next season’s hope floats on Curry’s ability to carry the load until Moody and Butler, recovering from a torn ACL, return to playing.

Delivering to his community has been an antidote for the monotony and frustration of rehab. “It was cool just having a vision in your head and then making it come to fruition,” Moody said, “and being able to actually see it turn out even better than you could have imagined it. “He was everything you could have ever asked him to be,” Moody said of Stephen Curry. “He flew in, woke up at 4 o’clock in the morning Friday to get here by seven for the golf tournament. Then he woke up at 6 in the morning Saturday to be here at the school for the event. He had the energy and the effort for everybody. I hope he enjoyed it. I think he did.”

They wouldn't have gone to the full mid-level type number that they were willing to get to for LeBron James because again that would have cost Moses Moody on a trade and then a Draymond Green pay cut that clearly Draymond was executing only for LeBron James."

That was his fate on Jan. 19, when Butler tore his ACL, then reiterated on March 23, when Moody tore his left patellar tendon. “And you hope that they both come back healthy,” Stephen Curry said, “and we can play at a level that keeps us relevant and competitive and builds a foundation so that we can figure out what it looks like. But that is the situation. We don’t live in any alternative universe.”

But the Warriors love Moses Moody. He’s been a model role player during his five seasons in the Bay. He’s a 24-year-old, 6-foot-5 wing who shot 40 percent from 3 last season and set career-highs in scoring average (12.1) and minutes per game (25.7). “I’m curious, so I had some conversations just trying to figure out what’s going on,” Moody said. “But I don’t call Rich every day. I’m not in it like that because I ain’t got nothing to do with how it’s gonna go down. So I’m more so just watching. … Whenever something needs to be talked about is when it will.”
