Shams Charania: Knicks center Drew Eubanks sustained a torn pectoral muscle and will be sidelined for an extended period of time, sources tell ESPN. New York will waive Eubanks, who was competing for a reserve center spot in training camp.

Knicks have enough room under 2nd apron to keep one camp vet. Bruce Brown has also put himself in good position to get roster spot, but Knicks would need to trade a rostered player to make that happen. Brown, in my opinion, would be a great value addition for the Knicks, giving them strong veteran depth in case of injury. ESPN reported Eubanks will be waived after suffering pectoral injury.

In SNY's The Putback, longtime Knicks insider Ian Begley believes that Drew Eubanks is the best and safest candidate New York may pick for their final roster spot ahead of the new NBA season. "I think the safest play is Drew Eubanks," Begley claimed. "Before John Konchar left the team for personal reasons, the two sides mutually agreed to waive him. Before that happened, they were looking at both a wing and a big. If they're still going that route, they would have to make a trade. But you can't get to 15 players without trading someone. "So, assuming that trade doesn't happen, you have to go with a big guy, and Eubanks would be the safer play."
For the first four games — including Monday against the 76ers in Philadelphia — that probably means a heavier dose of the reserves. It’s also the best opportunity to evaluate the final roster spot. The Knicks, per sources, are prioritizing a center. That was reiterated when Tony Bradley, a 6-foot-11 veteran, was brought into camp to battle James Wiseman and Drew Eubanks.

Konchar, recently waived and stretched after a trade to Minnesota, is known as a strong rebounder/defender/offensive connector who can knock down perimeter shots over his seven-year NBA career.
