Anthony Slater: Al Horford is sitting tonight on the second night of a back-to-back vs Raptors. Draymond Green, Will Richard and Gui Santos are all questionable for the Warriors in their first game after the Jimmy Butler ACL tear.

Danny Emerman: Gui Santos (ankle) will be out tomorrow, vs Charlotte, per Steve Kerr, but Warriors don’t anticipate it being a long-term absence.

Gui Santos: When I got here in the G League, I thought that I have to make like 30 points and 10 rebounds to go to the NBA. But the coaches came to me said, “You don't need to do any of that. I we just need you to play hard. We need you to play good defense. We need you to space the floor and make quick decisions. That's what gonna make you go to the NBA. I was like one of the last options in offense. Not because I was not good enough to be there, but because they were teaching me how to play a way that I will play if I go up to Golden State. And I was like, "Okay, I'm going to trust you guys. I'm going to start doing everything that you guys ask me to do."

Nick Friedell: Steve Kerr said he wanted to see Gui Santos get some more minutes in the rotation. Kerr said he wanted to keep his conversations, and how Jonathan Kuminga took being told he was coming out of the rotation, private.

Because the 29-year-old wants this. Badly enough to swallow his pride in favor of patience. To work on his game until he can’t be denied. It’s a spirit of toughness and grit, forged from a pure love of the game. The locker room loves him for it, and now he’s known by his Philadelphia proclamation. “Pat is that motherf—,” forward Gui Santos said. “He’s great. It’s great to have a guy like that on the team.”

Anthony Slater: The Warriors assigned De’Anthony Melton, Jonathan Kuminga and Gui Santos to Santa Cruz so they could scrimmage with the G-League team today. Kuminga and Melton late stages of injury return, Santos to get some conditioning. They’ll be recalled after.

Anthony Slater: The Warriors will exercise their team options on Gui Santos and Quinten Post for next season, per source. Santos is on the books for $2.2 million (non-guaranteed) and Post at $1.9 million. Pair of late second round picks who have made a rotation impact.

Ohm Youngmisuk: Steve Kerr shortened his rotation and did not play Jonathan Kuminga and Gui Santos. Quinten Post played 10 minutes. On Kuminga and Santos, Kerr said both have been impactful and players and “It doesn’t mean they’re out of the loop (for rest of season).”

One day it's schooling Gui Santos on how to front the post. His most prominent pupil is sophomore guard Brandon Podziemski, whom Butler assisted on Tuesday night's dagger against Milwaukee. "He's literally taking a different guy after practice almost every day," Kerr said. "He did it with Buddy [Hield], even some of the vets. Quinton Post."

Kuminga will presumably take all of Gui Santos’ minutes and shave some frontcourt playing time away from Kevon Looney, Quinten Post and Moody. He can help lessen the workload for Draymond Green. There should be ample opportunity, especially if he shows an ability to be an impactful point-of-attack defender with Butler and Green in help side behind him. “You’re integrating another dynamic player who can switch positions (on defense), get out in transition and score the basketball,” Green said. “We haven’t done anything spectacular offensively. We haven’t put in a bunch of sets offensively (for Butler). I don’t think he’s necessarily coming back to a completely different offense. I think he’s coming back to a team with a completely different mentality. He’ll be fine picking that up.”

Anthony Slater: Steph Curry will play tonight at Lakers on the second night of a back-to-back. Draymond Green is probable. Moses Moody and Gui Santos are questionable. Bench depleted while Jimmy Butler trade finalizes. Butler is expected to join team in LA but not yet debut.

Anthony Slater: Gui Santos left tonight’s game with left patella tendinitis, per Warriors. Another hit to their depth as they reshape their roster this week.

The Golden State Warriors have assigned forward Gui Santos to the team’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, it was announced today. Santa Cruz will host the South Bay Lakers on Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena, with tip-off set for 7 p.m.

Monte Poole: Warriors coach Steve Kerr has told Lindy Waters III and Gui Santos that they will not be in the rotation to start the season. Adds both have the ability to help the team
