Sean Highkin: Latest updates on injured guys: Matisse Thybulle, Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson are doing non-contact stuff but still haven’t been fully cleared. Donovan Clingan did some drills but not full practice. Robert Williams III returned to practice after getting sick Sunday.

Trail Blazers guard/forward Matisse Thybulle had surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb and will be reevaluated in four to six weeks, the team said Friday. Thybulle was injured during Wednesday night's game at Utah. He clutched his left hand after a fast break at the end of the first quarter and left the game at the start of the second.

Matisse Thybulle has been diagnosed with a left thumb sprain and will miss Friday’s game against Denver. Kris Murray (illness) and Robert Williams III (G League assignment) have been upgraded to questionable, and Shaedon Sharpe (left calf soreness) is listed as probable.

Splitter and general manager Joe Cronin had addressed the team Thursday afternoon after the news broke to relay whatever details and instructions they could. They didn't know much more than the players did at that point. The most salient detail they told the players was simply a mandate: that it wasn't appropriate to contact Billups, who had been arraigned and released on bail Thursday afternoon. "Everyone thinks we might know more than everyone else," Thybulle said. "But it's like Twitter is telling us just as much as anyone else." Thybulle says he and Billups talked every day, sometimes multiple times a day. But it was more than that. "Chauncey just believed in me," the veteran wing said.

Joe Freeman: Billups said Matisse Thybulle has been a full participant in practice and Rob Williams has dramatically increased his activity. Their opening night status has not been decided, but it sounds like Thybulle might be available.
Sean Highkin: Toumani Camara, Deni Avdija, Matisse Thybulle and Robert Williams III were all full-contact participants in practice today. Chauncey Billups doesn’t know who will or will not be available opening night but obviously an encouraging sign.

Sean Highkin: Matisse Thybulle: "Playing games in your mind of what lineups we can put out there is pretty fun. We have a few All-Defense-level players. I think we can put some ridiculous lineups out there."

Chris Haynes: Portland Trail Blazers defensive specialist Matisse Thybulle is opting into his $11.5 million player option for the 2025-26 season, league sources tell me.
