This certainly isn’t the Rob Dillingham that arrived to the Bulls back at the Feb. 5 trade deadline. This isn’t even the same Dillingham from a week ago. “I’m renewed,” the guard said with a proud grin.

In his last three games, Dillingham has averaged 13 points, including a 15-point performance in the Memphis win, while averaging five assists and shooting 6-of-15 (40%) from three-point range. “I’m just thankful for Coach, honestly,” Dillingham said after his latest showing. “Giving me that leash, it’s like I’m renewed. I’ve been able to play freely. My mental when I’ve been out on the court has been bad like for the last couple months, so I’m just thankful that I’m able to play, able to add confidence, able to help us win, and really, I’m just thankful to learn and keep growing.”

Jones’ angle game when it comes to attacking bigs is an artform, and Dillingham is all in on learning it. “I had just said that to (Jones), ‘Brah, how do you finish like that?’ “ Dillingham said. “Then the crazy part about it is he’s not even finishing left-handed. He’s finishing right-handed over every big. That’s a big help. Even (against Memphis) I had some missed layups, but I know I can get in the lane. It’s the finishing part. I know I can finish but it’s not 100% there. Learning from him, keep asking him questions will help me for sure.”

Joel Lorenzi: Bulls get their first win since Jan. 31, 120-97, over Milwaukee. Had a 27-0 run. Lot of Leonard Miller who was a +38 (!!!). Lot of Collin Sexton, who had 22 on 9/14 shooting (which apparently meant less Rob Dillingham). Bulls break 11-game skid.

This was a guy who averaged 5.3 minutes in January — when he managed to get off the bench — and clocked more than 20 minutes for the Timberwolves only once this season. The Bulls didn’t just trade for Dillingham. They rescued him. “Just two different styles of offense — not as much holding the ball [with the Bulls],” Dillingham, 21, said of the difference between Finch and Donovan. “Just, like, get off the ball. And, really, in Minnesota, it was, like, every possession. “I mean, every possession matters here, but you’re going to mess up. Over there, not everyone could mess up and keep playing. So [it was] just the opportunity and the pace of the game, just the playing styles.”

Will Gottlieb: Dillingham on this opportunity: “Really just confidence, confidence from my teammates, confidence from my coaches, and really confidence in myself. I really just feel like I haven't got to get an opportunity where I feel confident. I'm just waiting for the spark to come back.”

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says the Minnesota Timberwolves have “moved on” from their pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo. This comes after the Timberwolves dealt Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks to the Chicago Bulls to acquire Ayo Dosunmu on Thursday morning. But Windhorst believes the Heat are still in the mix for Antetokounmpo. “The Miami Heat are still out there,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s First Take. “And the Heat, the last I heard, were still trying to make moves to improve their offer that they can make to Milwaukee. ... That said, the Heat can make a better offer, a more aggressive pick-rich offer later this summer. So teams in the league right now that it is most likely that Giannis stays put. But Miami is still there. And I want to point out that I will never put anything past Andy Elisburg, their GM, and the aggression of Pat Riley. So, keep an eye with Miami.”

Yossi Gozlan: Timberwolves cap sitiation after acquiring Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips for Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller, and four second-round picks. Dosunmu's $7.5 million made him one of the more attainable guard options for them. He can extend for up to three years, $52 million.

I have heard, by the way, that parting with Dillingham is indeed on the table. The Wolves were certainly aggressive in acquiring the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to select Dillingham, but he simply hasn't been able to fill Minnesota’s playmaking needs as quickly as hoped and could well benefit from a change of scenery.

He looked at the bench’s soft performance in the first 10 games as a personal indictment. He is proud of what he has done here, proud of the folk hero status he has earned in the fan base. Now 26 years old, he has taken it upon himself to mentor the younger players in the second unit, such as Rob Dillingham, Jaylen Clark, and Terrence Shannon Jr. “This is my group, and this is what we have to do,” Reid said. “I know what I have to do to get us going, whether it’s keeping the score going up towards the positive side, or getting the lead back. It’s how I became who I am, and how I became Sixth Man, and put myself in those (positions). So I know what it takes, and I’ve got to lead.”
