He brought the ball up the floor on the Mavericks’ first possession of the game, and the Lakers sent a double team at him. “That was something we tried: Try to disrupt him, try to slow him down, hopefully get a steal,” Lakers summer-league coach Lindsey Harding said. “We know he’s a great player. We know that they’re gonna go to him. We know he is the future of this league, so we wanted to try to make it a little difficult for him.”

Mavericks targeting Mike Penberthy for role on Jason Kidd’s staff
The Dallas Mavericks are seriously pursuing veteran shooting coach and former NBA champion Mike Penberthy for a role on Jason Kidd’s staff, league sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com. Penberthy, most recently a shooting coach and pro scout with the Denver Nuggets, has emerged as a strong candidate as Dallas retools its coaching staff ahead of the 2025–26 season.
