Blake Murphy: The Raptors have waived Mo Bamba. His deal was set to guarantee if not waived by tomorrow. Teams can now sign 10-day contracts.
Michael Grange: Raptors have waived Mo Bamba. Said this might happen this AM on @FAN590. I expect he will sign a 10-day w/ Raps on Thurs. Since his deal guaranteed on Jan. 10th, they needed to waive him on Jan. 7th by 5pm latest. By waiving him now, Raps can sign him on Thursday and have in Boston for practice and in lineup vs. Cs, 76ers and LAC. They could even sign him to another 10-day after that, which gives them insurance on 5-game west coast road swing. Expectation is Poeltl will return by then (or sooner) so 2nd 10-day (& $140K on cap) may not be necessary. But in any case by then Raps will be able to judge if there is a fit with Bamba. If not they can explore back-up C options closer to Feb. 5th trade deadline.
Josh Lewenberg: Mo Bamba said he and the Raptors have been in talks since the G League showcase but things materialized over the last 48 hours. Flew to Toronto from Austin, Texas yesterday and didn't land until ~7pm. The airline lost his bag. "Something told me to take sneakers out. Got lucky."
Josh Lewenberg: Bamba worked out with a lot of the Raptors' players over the summer, so he's familiar with his new teammates. He played against Quickley in the 7th grade. When Barrett was in college he stayed at Mo's house in Orlando. He's known Barnes for a while too.
Josh Lewenberg: Rajakovic on Mo Bamba: "I think this is a good opportunity for him to prove to everybody that he belongs in this league. We're going to have a very clear plan for him. We're going to give him an opportunity to show what he can do and hopefully it works for both sides."

Josh Lewenberg: Mo Bamba flew in last night and will be available tonight vs his former team, Orlando. CMB is also available.

Blake Murphy: RJ Barrett will sit tonight on a back-to-back, as expected. Jakob Poeltl remains out. 2-ways with 905. Collin Murray-Boyles (illness) is questionable. Mo Bamba available.
Josh Lewenberg: Raptors make the Mo Bamba signing official. Can confirm the deal is for the rest of the season BUT it doesn’t become fully guaranteed until Jan. 10, so it’s essentially an extended tryout. He should be available tonight vs Orlando, his former team.
Bobby Marks: Prior to the signing, Toronto was $772K over the luxury tax and $911K below the first apron. Toronto has $6M in unlikely bonuses that count toward the apron. The Raptors are allowed to exceed the first apron because they are not hard capped.
Blake Murphy: Bamba’s deal is non-guaranteed, per source. All contracts guarantee on Jan. 10, so they could waive him by then and this is effectively a 12-day contract. But the prorated daily amount will count toward that tax line they’ll probably be trying to dodge at the deadline.
