The Jazz officially announced Wednesday forwards Trey Gilder and Darnell Jackson, center Brian Butch and guard Chris Quinn have been added to the team’s 2012-12 training camp roster.

The San Antonio Spurs are bringing in two big men next week whose surnames together make up the name of a former NBA player and coach. Brian Butch and Warren Carter will work to make a name for themselves in their professional basketball careers as Butch Carter did, and for them, they likely see the Spurs as a place that could take them there. According to Keith Kreiter of Edge Sports International, a sports management company, said that Carter, a 6-9 Illinois grad with a bevy of international experience and a stint with the New York Knocks, will be in town next Tuesday and Wednesday. Kreiter noted on Twitter that Carter has played very well overseas the last few years.
The Bucks will open a four-day camp for their summer league team on Thursday at the Cousins Center in St. Francis. Late additions to the roster include former Wisconsin center Brian Butch and NBA veteran DJ Mbenga, who last played for the New Orleans Hornets.

In a couple of weeks, Butch hopes to have secured a spot on the New Orleans Hornets' roster. That's because Butch has verbally agreed to a make-good contract with the Hornets. Butch, 26, opted for the Hornets over Golden State, Milwaukee and Miami. Keith Kreiter, Butch's agent, said more than a dozen teams had called him and inquired about Butch. On the surface, Butch's decision looks like a shrewd one. The Hornets have a mere five players under contract for this season and none of them is a power forward.
Team USA finalized its roster for the 2011 Pan-Am Games at the end of the month. As those following along should remember, the team is made up entirely of players signed to play in the NBA Development League this season and will be led by Nate Tibbetts, head coach of the Tulsa 66ers. The final roster seems to have a focus on defense and shooting as the 12 men included to represent Team USA includes guards Justin Dentmon, Blake Ahearn, Donald Sloan and Jerome Dyson; wings Renaldo Major, Moses Ehambe and Curtis Sumpter; forwards Leo Lyons, Marcus Lewis and Lance Thomas; and bigs Brian Butch and Greg Stiemsma. "Obviously this is a tough selection just because guys have competed at such a high level. They're doing what we've asked, they're all good guys, but we can only take 12. At the same time you've got to get 12 so we can relax, catch our breath, guys don't have to press now, this is our team and we can really focus on competing in the Pan Ams," Tibbetts said in a press release.
